[directed to nerusai] How come Fat Cat got to be mod? He says he never applied/sent application at all, and me and a LOT of people are complaining of how POINTLESS the application phase was. Lots of questions to be answered, neru.

I'm speaking in general, but people that ask to be mod do not usually get the job. In my experiences, players that were "friends" with moderators have a better chance of obtaining a staff position. This method makes more sence anyway, you hire the people that you know and ignore the requests of people that have not proven themselves. The staff applications are tools that allow the mods to notice a player; it is that player's responcibility to donate thier time to the zone and prove that they are competant and loyal. Try doing dev work or helping new players, i believe that hyperspace already has a large dev team so what they truely need is players. Help new player and they will stay in the zone, talk to staff members and interact with vets, consistantly play in hyperspace, donate your time to events or projects that you are capable of helping with, and dont keep asking for a staff position.

Great words 50% B)

And yes.... the dev team is really large.... if anything else all current staff programs and does graphics/map work. We are overstocked in that department... need more players so our sub arenas can be taken advantage of.... more guinea pigs for settings and modules.

Oh and... Fat was forced to be in his position blum.gif

Often if somone is popular in zone, known to be trusted and good at what they do the zone will ask them because that person is very usefull to the zone.

Applications are for people less known by the current staff and sysops so thay can look at you and see if you have the quilities and skills required.

True that, its how I got hired....well...ok no... they used the ''cant beat them, make them join staff team'' to prevent more damage.

Anyways I laugh at the fact that Char even thought of becoming a mod. hahaha oh man thats...hahahaha what a -*BAD WORD*-ing dumb -*BAD WORD*-. Seriously what were you thinking??!!?

oooh man , thx for the laughs. Im at work and needed it...good stuff

Char, my brain salutes you.

Age means something. It's closely tied to maturity, much as some will deny this.

We will do our very best to hire mature and capable individuals. That rules you, t2d, right out. Sorry. It also instantly rules many others out. Charcoal included.

While I no longer control the hiring process, I do know what I look for in a moderator. Someone who asks for staff is probably going to be turned down. Only exception is when we ask for applications. Quite frequently, we have someone in mind when we ask for the apps, and ask them anyway when they don't submit one. I assume that's how Neru handled Fat Cat.

Generally, the older you are, the more mature you'll be. Solely by people's actions in HS or chat, I have pinpointed people's ages with a 90% accuracy. What was the trend?

12-13: Whine, complain, swear. Generally tries to appeal with immature humor

13-14: Whine, complain, whine, swear.

15-16: Complain, swear occasionally

17-34: Jokingly complain, but generally in a mature sense. Uses mature humor. Occasionally swears

34+: Old, and annoying. Don't bother them.

Of course, there are the occasional people who fit into categories either higher or lower than their age, but I can't think of any, except possibly Kirby (haven't figured his age yet). He'd've been a great mod... Well, he might not have gotten modship, but there's still the Presidency to claim! Kirby for President, '04!

Actually thats quite true, I'm sometimes in the 12-13 group and a few times the 13-14 group

...other times I'm in the 9 year old group, like when it's the 3rd night since I last slept... happened before... I can remember when I was 10, and I look back, and I thought I was immature, I probobly still am immature, but compared to 3 years ago, I've changed noticably.

What about those college freshmen/sophomores who think they're so good?

thay fit into the correct age range.

Problem there is that they are so far up their own !@#$%^&*es they cant see how sad and pathetic they really are.

I think 12-13 and 13-14 needs "Excessive use of internet accronyms added to the description"
