shazbot Posted August 30, 2003 Report Posted August 30, 2003 Ok, supposefly mshta is the program that is started when you start add/remove programs in the windows control panel, I've been around ALOT of bug sites/tech help forums and none have helped... I found a link that says that sometimes MSHTA is known to give "Illegal Operation" errors but when I double click on Add/Remove Programs nothing happens, except when I Ctrl-alt-delete, task manager shows mshta.exe, but I see no windows or anything. This has gone on for a long time and I need to take off some programs so any help is appreciated. Quote
Bargeld Posted August 30, 2003 Report Posted August 30, 2003 manually remove the programs (look for a unisnt.exe in their main directory and try to run it.) If there is not uninsntaller in the directory, just delete the directory. Download Xteq System Setup and use the unistall editor to remove the listings you want to get rid of (note: this does not actually unistall them, it will only remove them from the add/remove prgrams list so that they dont bug you.) This step is optional, depends whether you have Norton System works. Use Norton Sytem Check to clean up the registry (it will remove the unused entries from the programs you just deleted.) IF you don't have NSW, don't fret it. This step is just for good form, but skipping it should not cause any problems. Quote
