Ever notice that discrimination is a one sided thing? A white person can't apply for affirmative action? Why not? Because he's white. Isn't that discrimination on the basis of color?

Christian clubs on some college campuses can't descriminate on who can hold a position in the club on the basis of religion. But the gay/lesbian clubs can descriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, because they get special permission.

Any minority is instantly raised to godlike status because of political correctness.

The black population in this country is enslaved by their hatred. They feel that they are owed something and so they never go out and try to get it for themselves (note that there are exceptions and the more the better). They wait and wait for it to be handed to them on a silver platter... because they feel that they deserve it. The Democrats in this great country are doing nothing to help this situation. They whisper little lies in the ears of the downtrodden, saying "Vote for me, I can make the people who are better than you come down to your level, wont that feel nice?"

Then, because they have a subjugated population as a voting base, they have to work hard to discredit those who acheive sucess outside of the estabished pathways of affirmative action and calling people racists.

I don't feel the same way about your example over black people... Even if the US affirms that segregation (I don't know if it's the proper word in that context) is more than over, it's not... the stereotype of the black guy being the mean guy is still omnipresent, from what I can see coming from your medias.

Umm... as for what you claim about democrats, I find it a strange statement, but again, it's not like the republicans never lie, uh? Aren't thoses lasts who banned a majority of black and hispanic people to vote in Florida in 2000, because they knew they'd vote democrats?

I'll never say that all republicans are good, because that would be a lie. But as a party, they don't oppress people.

And as to the florida thing... move on, you guys lost. Every independent recount proved it.

Will subsidies for minority groups ever change? The whole problem is, minority groups will continue to feel "oppressed" because they can receive subsidies! oy!

I really don't care about that though. If the government is trying to help minorities make it in this country, great. It may not be good to you, but it's the right thing to do :(

Affirmitive action was a good thing when it was implimented, now its a tool for reverse descrimination. Please, let me give you an example that has happened to me.

I'm a White Male and live in Arkansas. I attend the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and other than federal Pell Grant, I pay for college through working and student loans (my mother makes 15,000 a year, the school tuition is 3500 a semester). I didn't qualify for any scholarship help through the school, my ACT score of 30 was above the requirement of a score of 27 to qualify for consideration for recieving a scholarship, where I lacked was having above a 3.75 Highschool GPA, I had a 3.65. When looking for scholarships offered outside from the University, I found many blanket scholarships for students of ethnic background, IE any color except white.

Last year the University recieved a good amount of money from the Walton Family (30 million dollars) and some of the money was to be made to setup a new scholarship program. Hoping to find some help I looked into the requirements for the scholarship, and here's what I found.

Highschool GPA of 3.00 and College GPA above 2.75 if applicable

ACT score of 25 or above

Family in financial need

African Americans only.

So, what you can see here is the University offering a scholarship that has requirements well below the normal scholarship requirement, and the money is for African Americans only.

I really don't care about that though. If the government is trying to help minorities make it in this country, great. It may not be good to you, but it's the right thing to do

Sorry, What we have here is reverse descrimination. In the above example (which really happened to me), because I'm a White Male, I get screwed in the -*BAD WORD*-. Not because I dont qualify, not because i'm not smart enough, or good enough, simply because my skin color is white. Sorry, If Dr. Martin Luther King was still alive today, I firmly believe he'd be fighting for white people, because whats begining to happen now is the same thing that happened to African Americans 40 years ago.

In closing let me say, Once I do get my degree, and I'm out in the workforce looking for a job, If an under-qualified Black/Asian/Mexican/whatever person gets hired over me for a job because of affirmitive action, I'm going to sell all my posessions and fight in court tooth and nail until the day I die. Basing a -*BAD WORD*-ing job over a skin color is WRONG. Not giving a person a job because his skin is black is wrong, just like NOT GIVING A PERSON A JOB BECAUSE HIS SKIN IS WHITE IS WRONG.

Worthless.

They don't oppress their own people or (or and) foreigners?

Florida: my point was not to tell you that votes were not counted well. Most of the black people _did not_ have the chance to vote, because Republicans knew they would vote Democrats. But here's an article for you anyways.

So Al Gore was the choice of Florida’s voters -- whether one counts hanging chads or dimpled chads. That was the core finding of the eight news organizations that conducted a review of disputed Florida ballots. By any chad measure' date=' Gore won.

Gore won even if one doesn’t count the 15,000-25,000 votes that USA Today estimated Gore lost because of illegally designed “butterfly ballots,” or the hundreds of predominantly African-American voters who were falsely identified by the state as felons and turned away from the polls.[/quote']

Let's not make this a Democrats vs Republicans debate...

As for Affirmative Action, what do you people think? if it against the same principle it was founded/applied? does politics correctness call it good and right, even thought it's racism towards white people?

How many cases do you know of a black student or a white student getting support or not because of the color of his/hers skin?

Interesting essay about Affirmative Action

oh no... not at all. In fact, both have a lot of similarities, so why not merge them and form a new party, the Republicrats? :D

Brain, what you have to take into consideration is the percentage black to white population in that university's area, vs the percentage of black to white attending the school. If you have a 30% black population, but only 5% of blacks are attending college then apparently the scholarship was setup to get more black folks into school.

I started it as one.

Anyway, Tascar, the government isn't helping minorites make it. They are crushing them further into the ground. The democrats give support to the minorites in such a way that they become addicted to the help and can't make it on their own. They never have to work hard. They just let the government give them money that they haven't earned.

Dr.Worthless, that's exactly what I'm talking about. Political correctness has spawned modern day racism.

Soldier, you aren't talking about the topic at hand. I could debate you about florida, but that's not what we're talking about.

Tascar, that's racial descrimination, and illegal by law. What do you think would happen to someone who set up a white only scholarship somewhere?

I'm not disagreeing that it is racial discrimination. However, the Waltons apparently did as they please because they are rich, it attracts possible black athletes to the school, and it helps a minority group. Despite the fact that you and I think it's unfair, it's completely overlooked because of those factors. It sucks.

Now if by chance you become extraordinarily rich, and would like to setup a college scholarship for whites, I think you will have to find similar factors in order to do so. Therefore, you might have to give it to a predominantly black school, in an urban run-down area, where the university will play by your rules.

I do believe its illegal, whats the difference in being selective in the scholarship based on skin color, and being selective on who you will serve in resteraunts, based on color.

I will start buy affirming that there is a state of reverse descrimination in this country and that 3/4ths of the people in here are right - especially Dr. Worthless

However, I would to point out a stupidity on the part of some white people. Remember that girl who kept trying to get into the Law School of Michigan University and kept getting turned down because she was right. She should have given up and tried Klu Klux College.

I mean, what the University of Michgan does is wrong. They set up a brick wall based on race. However, what the girl did was stupid. When she ran into the wall, she should have stopped banging her head against it went around it.

That won't solve the problem however.

The problem stems from the NAACP. There reputation and role is obvious. The problem with the NAACP is that their interests are tied to that of their enemies. If a magic wand was waived so that racism would be gone today, the NAACP would become useless and be gone tomorrow.

Thus, their recent actions have been devoted to create a new generation of racists to fight tomorrow. Thus, their affirmative action programs which will promote racism on the long term. Since all those of a minor races are lifted up in the future a black engineer will be less skilled than a white engineer, black docters less qualified than white doctors, etc. Racism will become what it never has been before - logical. For that reason more racists will be made, and the NAACP will have somebody to fight again.

That isnt true about minnesota colleges lol take it from me

Affirmative action is de facto racism if not de jure...just because its wrapped in a pretty package doesn;t make it right

As for the issue (if there was one) of political parties, there should be NONE... there is no provision in the Cons!@#$%^&*ution for political parties or even politics! It was meant to be (as in a Presidential election) two people (or more whatever) debating each other on the issues, not just some gaudy campaign that is more like a beauty pageant than a serious election. You can buy an election these days (just look at the net worth of each of the major candidates) you need to be a millionaire to even get on TV. There should be campaign spending caps.

It's really too bad that almost all campaigning these days is simple mudslinging...It would be refreshing to hear a candidate actually praise the actions of his(or her) opponent. Maybe someday this will be true but then again maybe someday they will successfully mate a pig and a chicken so we can have chacon (chicken/bacon). In either case, I won't hold my breath
