Please post any comments about the beta release in here. Comments should be about ship balance, any nifty or odd stuff you've noticed, or anything else about em.

17th shouldn't be a zone where you can upgrade your ship by greening.. that just slows down the actual gameplay because people have to think about getting prizes to give their ship its maximum potential before going to battle.

I say leave that to zones like EG and RS which are designed for it (:

I voted that it is good (better than pub sets). A few things i feel could be improved would be:

 

1. The burst speed on the spider and terr is very slow and i can't imagine it killing anyone even in small spaces before the opponent has flown off. In msbl this would be a useless weapon in its wide spaces.

2. The warbirds bombs do not cost much energy to fire, considering that they're quite fast and rapidly firing it might turn out to be a bit overpowered. I'd suggest making the energy cost of fire 350'ish before further extensive testing.

3. The lanc: now with a repel can easily fend off javs, weasels etc and it doesn't need much better guns than it had. I'd still like to see it with better guns than before just not that powerful. Maybe tho slowing down bulletspeed rather than the delay would be the answer so it is limited to using them only in really close combat which is really what they're designed for due to its longer range bombs.

4. The terr i still really dislike and i feel it is in need of a makeover too. I don't like the bombs or the guns.. but that may just be my tastes. I'd like to see more of a strike-ship with rapid fire, double barrel guns with a slow bulletspeed: kind of like the dsb terr but with either the same bombs it has now or with the old terrs bombs and of course more nrg. I just really dislike it now and was hoping you'd change it.

 

Thats about all, its better than pub but can still be improved on.

 

-EDIT- also after testing it for a little bit just now the weasel may need slightly slower rockets or just one of them. either should do.

Weasel has been modified with less rockets.

 

As for the terrier, i've heard quite a few people ask to not have it changed, and i'm placating that request at least temporarily. It's not my favorite ship in terms of "Almost Perfect" like the jav and shark are (which is why they weren't changed), so anything is possible.

 

I've heard conflicting things about the WB, either it's too powerful or too weak (I lean towards the latter opinion)...more testing needed to determine what to add to it.

 

I do agree burst speed would be worthless in MSBL, i'll think of how to remedy that.

 

As for the lanc...I really have no idea :p I'll take the rep off and see what happens.

You should make it public for a day or so, try and get as much feedback as possible, the more people the more accurate, and even if poeple dont come here and give their opininons im sure we could post logs on us opionated pubbers blum.gif

 

As for what i think, i checked it like 2 seconds ago, i HATE the weasel, just for the mere fact its too similar to the jav with less speed and less energy, which would make it prone to long range bombing which the jav seems to combat against, it doesn't seem to add nothing, although the way it can get in base's would make it a pretty interesting base battle, would really need to get alot of people to get maximum response in terms of combat.

 

Im not to sure about the Lanc, i still think that we should try what i stated: "As for the Lancaster maybe slowing its speed? just a little bit, not a huge speed change, but just to anchor down that its essentially a basing and defence ship, rather than a ball winner, its 2 rep's, 4 bounce bombs, x radar and mines would make it a too perfect balling ship".

 

Yeah spider bullets seem too slow.

 

I also like the current terrier, but maybe a change in bullets? how about a one spread L1 bullets that are cheap to shoot?

 

Levi seems ok.

 

Anyway thts just my look on things but would be great to see it as the main map to see how the combat works, that way we see the ship's hierarchy and can evaluate and change from there.

Ok i finally got to play the sets with about 7-8 people... and i thought two things...

 

1)The WB is a great ship which is perfect for combatting the Jav, with fairly equal results for both ships, i think this is the type of rivalry that should be encouraged because like the Jav the WB in this set is essentialy a raw ship, just like the Jav, i would say drop the rep though.

 

2)The weasel is a great ship but im not sure about this idea of another raw combat ship, i would have liked to seen a ship that helps the ball game. The Wb/Jav conflict is enough, and with 2 raw fighting ships i believe its enough. <_<

 

Anyway Vile, i love the WB, that is good work. Pat yourself on the back man lol

yeah i'd have to say i'm fine with the wb also in tests today. The weasel i also think is on a par with the wb and jav which is a good thing to have. A couple of things i didn't like that came up today were:

 

1. The spider seemed a bit too weak. This could easily be solved with minimal changes tho by just increasing its recharge rate a bit which is very slow atm. Also there is still the burst issue. If the speed of the burst-shrapnel were increased its offensive abilities would be given a little boost too which is needed.

 

2. The lanc sometimes spawns with red bombs. These just look unnatural on a lanc having played it years and years with lv2 bombs. I don't think this is something thats needed as it won't effect the game very much by giving it what everyone will green anyway or spawn with. All it'll do is get lanc players a bit annoyed.

 

3. I still hate the terr.. it doesn't seem to be either a fighter or a specialised ship. Its kind of a mixture of a warbird and a spider.

 

Anyways, a good job so far i hope my opinions are of some use to you.

Lancaster wise I wouldn't say slowing it down would be a good option, it is aleady pretty slow, slower than it was as the Jav can now catch it, but maybe reducing the speed of the speeds. The delay seems fine in an impression of a big hefty gun, but the speed of which they come out could be slowled down a little so it isnt a rush in shooting and drive away again.

 

The weasel I'm pretty happy with and the mines on it I love! :D (dur?)

 

The terrier is strange... at first it was suggested to be a 3 x 3 ship but that would require some major changes to the map and more open space battling would have to occur... I think we should all agree upon it having 2 repels and the large amount of mines, thats what makes it a good basers/ballers ship... but what else to do to it... It seems a bit of a kamikaze ship really :/

 

The lanc bombs I thin should stay level 2. As Sever pointed out, most lanc players will get a bit angry, so make the veteran ability upon the lanc (Which changed from cheap bullets to level 2 bombs correct??) to something like um... prehaps a multi package? Loses its bullets to level 1 but bombs upgrade to level 3? or maybe say an increased in speed upon the ship to counter act its speed if it is a veteran upgrade.

Both of them i disagree with, it would be bad move to give something with 4 bounce bombs, L3 bombs... first reason would make it hard for the ship, because it wouldnt have no real control over where the bombs land perfectly... which could result in close bombing aand team kills... And the obvious... it would become the ultimate defender... You dont really use the bullets like other ship so downgrading them just makes the lanc that much stronger, it would be like upgrading the Jav's bullets in return for no bombs...

 

As for the speed i thought it was average? maybe i was wrong though, but giving it a speed boost would just get it away from the idea that its a defender... a defender with xradar, reps, mines, 4 bounce bombs and good speed... Now thats an atacker...

 

As for the terrier, just clean out and start again like you said Vile... But i honestly wouldn't know where to start with idea's for it... how about heavy duty ship, L1 bombs and Bullets, high energy and a couple of specials, like a ship that soaks up damage in base wars... a ship with fairly good speed and manuv but can take alotta hits, but when it gives them back it's energy will drop more rapidly... ok reading that back that sounds pretty rubbish idea lol N/m... smile.gif

How about a balling ship, mines, rep, good speed, good manuv... not built to kill but ball...

I don't think the lanc should get lv3 bombs in any cases. It's veteran ability could be the repel. As for the rest i'd like to see its bullet-speed reduced so it can't use its bullets to kill at the range a jav uses them for. They'd be more short range which would suit it because it's a long-range bomber.

 

I like the idea of a 3x3 turret ship. What about a 3x3 terr with about 2500 energy, average speed, 2 repels, 6 mines, lv1 spread guns, lv2 slow bombs, x-radar and it'd be the only ship able to carry 3 people (the others would carry 1). It'd be a useful defender/attacker and anyone who wants to turret in pub could play it with no speed or thrust penalty.

Lanc modded sucessfully.

 

And yes sever, that was fairly close to my original terr design, which I think i'll try.

 

Other then that, everything looks pretty darn good from my vantage point atm, particularly the wb vs jav little thing I see developing, which I didn't plan on :p

Nah roach, i might be ruthless but im not cynical when it comes to other people's idea's smile.gif Yeah, the terrier with this idea of it being it like a transport/tanking ship could be good. Yeah the WB looks hot, my new fav ship lol

lol Sorry vile but when we said slow the speed of the bullets down, not THAT much. Its makes the pointless completly pointless really :/

 

Before they were very fast, not they are very slow! Medium speed prehaps? lol

i just checked it... i was like.... .... .... .... blum.gif . They are abit slow, its like the current one with a mine isnt it? and the slower bullets? it could be ok with L3 bullets like that blum.gif

Just looked at the latest change and well it is a rather large step in weakening its guns.

 

But i do like the new bullet speed. Just that weakens its guns a -*BAD WORD*- of a lot. A nice way of letting it keep short-range guns whilst giving it some firepower would be to reduce the bullet-fire-delay a bit so it can still pack a punch if anyone gets really close. It wouldn't be able to hunt anyone down but can still defend itself from inexperienced kami-kazi javs.
