People finally gave up on pub after they uploaded mummy, before that, they made some minor tweaks like making the shark drain energy when cloaked etc.

The new ships (Zeke's) came after that.

I am talking about before mummy, i am talking even about before the oldmap was replaced. People stopped playing back then and only stayed in the zone for jav events. I remember it clearly as i have been here since August 1999. Even you say so yourself with 'finally gave up pub'. Thats right mummy was a massive disaster and i forfronted the cause to get it removed but that was just the last straw.

 

The only things that needed to be changed was as I said, burst damage and weasel.

I'm not saying we should just switch back to old setts, that wouldn't really accomplish anything (even if it would be better than what we have now), but base a gameplay on the old setts, because they were 17th and they all made sense.

Add to this list the terriers super repels, the levis three thors and lack of almost any speed, the lancs 7 bounces on its bombs.

 

There's plenty of events that could've been made for those ships.

Levi = bomb/base/bunker-type event

Spider = cloak war-type event

Terr = base war-type event

A cloak war event is the stupidest thing i have ever seen in this zone. Ever tried a spider elim? you'll see what i mean. The other events tho may be a possibility.. i'd like to see the levi one maybe with each lev equipped with a couple of rockets so it can dodge a little quicker over to an enemy bunker.

 

It'd be nice to have something like the old sets back again though just not the whole lot. Changes to the old sets like these i would rather see up in pub:

 

Wb: more thrust, a little less energy and no xradar, give it anti.

jav: same

spid: no stealth (keeps cloak), less damaging bursts, powerful emp bombs

lev: a little bit faster, one thor (not 3!)

terr: 2 reps, 6 mines, other than that is purrrfect!

weasel: like you said delic it needs to be a fighter, total change and please ffs make it normal size.

lanc: like it is in the current sets, tis a beauty!

shark: needs to be the true cloaker of the bunch, give it a rocket just above its top speed so it can make bombing strikes on poor unsuspecting basers. 1 wall.

 

If we modded the old sets like that i'd be in full favour of putting them in pub. So i agree with the changes you want delic i just feel they need to go a bit further.

I'm glad its not you making the sets Sever. I pretty much don't agree with any of that stuff.

Well I meant changes made to the old sets... they are bad changes :/

 

But also the Jav might not remain as it once was... ooh... conspiracy!!!!

 

lol I have seen so many different sets of the Jav with various damage settings and such I don't know exactly what the proper jav sets are :/

 

Then again I've NEVER liked the 17th Jav (In fact I would class it as the worst ship set in SS but thats my opinion).

Jav: Basically unchanged, a lil more thrust, lil less speed.

Spid: I liked the cloak/stealth, with mid drain. I had it with two bursts, less powerful than old sets. Decent EMP.

Lev: I made with afterburners. What a concept... and yeah, I had it with ONE thor.

Terr: Wish I could see it now, but I had it with 2 reps. 8 mines tho.

Weasel: I had a true cloaker, weak emp and good guns, great handling, mid speed.

Lanc: 'nother I wish I could see. M!@#$%^&* shrap, good bombs, decent guns. Remember I had that multi gun for the first time?

Shark: Great guns, great bombs, great speed/handling, and cloak/stealth? That was mine

 

Was my sets really that bad? That brought the daily pop after mummy from 10+ to 60+?

 

I'd like to thank the peeps who helped me develop them too... even tho I can't remember all who helped. (Been too long.)

P.S. Oh yeah, and buyable anti. I thought was a good thing. Plus my bricks cost 100k, which given the amount of peeps who stayed in for 4-6 hours a day, was consistant with the points awarded.

Quiet DRK. You're starting to annoy me. You don't want me to come back and force that "lanc god" idea of yours down your throat now do you?

 

Z's settings imo were a passable improvement on much of the old settings. Sure he got some bits a little, well, wrong, but all up he made a number of changes for the better.

Zeke, your sets as far as specials were concerned were not bad at all. The problem with them was the damage levels that were changed causing it to be very difficult to kill someone in a 1v1. I know you wanted more teamwork but even with that the majority of battles fought are 1v1's and your sets made it very difficult to succesfully kill anyone. Every ship was crippled. The terrier was horrendous with no guns at first and not much better with them. The worst thing was the jav. Now i'm not too concerned about having a different jav in pub as long as the events are unchanged, but what you made was just a slightly crappier version of what everyone was used too. That pissed everyone off who loved that ship and who found that your jav didn't quite allow them to pull off the same moves they always could before. Anyway the main thing was the damage and not being able to kill anyone because that meant that everyones favorite ship was weaker.

I fly the WB most of the time and bricks are very useful. I don't waste points on bounce because I'm always chasing and carrying the ball. Bricks have saved my -*BAD WORD*- many times near the tubes. 100,000 points was a fair price to pay. Everyone has there own idea of how to have fun, I like to ball. The WB is the best ship for balling and bricks work great for defense while being chased.
