Big lag with good comp

I have been playing SS for a long time and my lag is worse than on my older computers.

I started to play on a 90 mhz with a 32 meg video card and like 64 meg RAM, I could play with winamp on and was barely lagging, no spike at all with a ping of about 100 ms, 0.1% S2C 0.1% C2S

When i moved on my 233 mhz, 64 meg video card, 128 meg RAM I started to lag, it wasnt constant but half of the time my ping could move up to 1000ms easily and my C2S could go up to 15%..

Now im on a 800 mhz, 128 meg video card, 512 meg RAM and i am constantly lagging, pings of 200-300 ms and a fps of 60, down to 30 on spikes (spiking every 20sec when theres people around), at least my C2S is back to 0.1%.

From the first computer to this one my connection havent changed, it always been a cable so that cant be the problem.

I know this cant be my comp because im playing games like Dark Age of Camelot, Counter-Strike, Need for Speed Underground or Star wars Jedi Knight 2 without any cpu or connection lag with the normal video settings and winamp playing in some cases.

I'd really like to find whats the problem so id be able to enjoy more playing subspace just like i was on my first computer.

Thanks for replying.

All my drivers are already updated but I didn't have last directx version.

I just installed directx9.0b, that reduced my spikes but my fps is still low and I still feel a constant lag.

Any idea if there's something else I can do?
