Most people who wanted old settings back were pub players, but most are gone now because of that reason.

Those players who only played Rumble didn't care about pub, why would they want the old settings back if they don't play pub?

Probably because most rumble players are not-so-newbies and quit playin pub when they changed it.

That would've sounded so stupid if it was said some months ago..

I would say that 8 of 10 wanted the old settings back... now nobody cares, and those who still do want them back, don't say anything because they know that nobody who can make a difference gives a fück about what they have to say.

Mike doesn't really count because he doesn't do anything and just doesn't care it seems.

But Mike's the only one who could've deleted my account.. dumdidum..

MikeTheNose and Nurples only come to 17th about once a week.. they sit in spec, do very little and then leave. But to be honest we can't really blame them for not "turning this zone around". No-one has really put a NEW idea forward that they're willing to make themselves and show to nurps. Nurps hasn't got time to make all the ideas himself. He leaves that up to his staff. If anyones to blame its the whole staff for not coming up with ideas and putting them into action.

where have you been? obviously not in 17th in the past year - it went through a ton of different maps and there was A WHOLE -*BAD WORD*- LOT of development stuff that was NEVER USED - why? - because all the sysops were either PERMANENTLY indisposed (nurples / mike) or they were off on their own crusades (vile, zeke) and couldn't be bothered with actually improving the zone except with the specific thing they wanted done

 

I mean q-p made about 40 tilesets, nice tilesets - she showed them to me - she made them FOR 17TH - she was on the unfortunate "dev staff" and they never used A SINGLE TILESET - they still haven't as far as I know (except the test maps lava made perhaps...I forget)

 

Zeke was active, I'll give him that, I didn't agree with most of his settings changes, but he was working for improvement

 

Vile did some very nice things, good maps, some good sets - but they weren't used because the staff was (and still is) b0rked.

 

Nurples I understand, he was barely able to use the computer for a long time.

 

Mike...I really abhor people that continue to retain the !@#$%^&*le of "owner" when they do next to nothing a sysop should do, but I understand why he's hanging on

 

It's just sad.

 

Maybe nobody in particular is to blame, but that's no reason to continue on with these nutso settings and silly map.

You can't blame the whole staff for problems you experience with some. I'm currently looking for new tilesets for a duel map I am trying to create. I posted once about it in the old forum and didn't even get a reply back. So you can be self righteous about a lot of things, but noone ever sent me a tile set, and I asked publically for one. Then I posted in the dev team thread bout it, still got no response. The only thing that has ever been done from the dev team when I asked was Telson made me some new gfx for the 17th site, which I will get up once my ftp is working correctly. Plody came and is doing bot work, which is good. Rifle is back, and currently making a nice duel bot, so that you may all have a duel league on the weekends, with each match updated on the bot, and the site get's updated at the end of each night. I want the arena to look as good as this bot is going to be. So if you've got tiles -->NBVegita@17thparallel.com. Now lets see if I get any tiles out of this.

Give us time people, the staff has gone through a lot in the past two weeks, and we need just a little time to get back on track. There are lots of ideas for how pub is to work out, and just tossin em up won't help anything. You'll just be back here complaining about those too. Give us time to discuss and agree on what should be done, minor changes, major, whatever!, instead of just doing one-person irrational changes for which you all seem so quick to criticize on.

yeah i wisd i'd had some of those 40 tilesets to work with too. i know of one which everyone used for a new carryable flagging map which was turned down for pub (quite rightly) because it made us too similar to swr. All those other maps that were tried out were simply not good enough. I made most of them and after they were put up and tried out i agreed with most of the staff that they weren't right for 17th. The other ones were just too similar to what we already have.

 

No-one has put together a map+settings that are good enough to be put up in pub. So atm we are quite rightly sticking with what we have until something better is made. I don't see any of you wanting to put in the work to make something great for pub.

 

I agree they are to blame for letting bad changes happen. Like the sets that made pub and league into two seperate zones making neither set of players able to play both effectively. But Mike removed the pub jav and reinstated the league one in pub.. so they're not all bad.

I was talking about the past - most of the people I know of that were on the dev team quit because none of their stuff was ever used - and I do mean EVER (okay, they used my stupid mines for a while)

yes, it's really hard to make a setup better than old old OLD tiles, bad graphic addons and a map with a giant base up top that is almost useless[/sarcasm]

 

my suggestion, as always...

 

lose north base, put a flag or several flags in west/east bases

 

go back to old settings with "uzi" weasel

 

I think ?go opalmap or ?go opal or ?go opalnew has this sort of setup
