FranKllr Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 -*BAD WORD*-o, I found a way to cheat in continuum. You can walk through wall, never beeing kill.. the usual stuff. Its funny because everyone can do it (event without a "cheat" program if you are very very very lucky) until it's fix in the next release. The fun part is that you will have to stop the older version working to stop that difinively. Ok here a hint to the programmer about it. When you download the map, load it in memory at the same time! I think I told ennough and too much, contact me for more info.I can send you the source code of my program if you want, its kinda very basic... and explain how to reproduce the cheat. TIA FranKllr
Dav Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 lil thats funny, you have to be going VERY fast for it to work though so for most zones it doesnt matter.
FranKllr Posted April 20, 2004 Author Report Posted April 20, 2004 Its not a portal trick, and its not by going fast. If you want me to show you,Come to Death Star Battle (because right now I only play there) and pm me. ?find FranKllr Another alternative is that I can tell everyone how to do it... LOLIts so basic.. that's pathetic and I can't tell more...
Dav Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 could you pm me? it is somthing i can look out for in FH when im in there.
FranKllr Posted April 21, 2004 Author Report Posted April 21, 2004 This message will be a log of the info passed. 2004-04-20I explainned to MERC whas was the flaw. 2004-04-20Sent to LorD !@#$%^&*!@#$%^&*iN, owner of the sszhosting, the source code and told 2 ways to correct the bug. 2004-04-20Sent to priitk lead programmer of continuum and svs owner of SSCC Metal Gear CTF.Description of the bug, the program with souce, and 3 way to correct it. Thanks SVS for giving me his email
Guest BiK Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 It's true, me and Fran tested it together in DSB like 1 week ago...it's so easy to perform...!
50% Packetloss Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 send it to ekted, pritt is a busy guy and he probably wont help. Ekted will be able to confirm if you found a problem and will know how to fix it.
FranKllr Posted April 21, 2004 Author Report Posted April 21, 2004 Thanks BiK, without your help we would never know, and without me we whould never exploit it. LOL Sorry, that I'm working to get it fix, its the ultimate cheating and undetectable (but visually).- - - - Thanks 50% Packetloss, I finally found his email but I don't think he will get my message on that one, if you know another of his email... it can help - - - - Ok, msg to zone owner: I'm sorry but you can't do anything to prevent that cheating. Its a flaw in the continuum client. I'm still wondereing why that thing has not been found already. Like I said its undetectable but visually... Wait until next release. Its not too hard to fix it...
50% Packetloss Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 you can send ekted a forum PMhttp://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showuser=119
SVS Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 Uh 50%, Ekted can't do -*BAD WORD*- to fix it. He can varify what is being exploited but then again... so can any of a number of people, only Priit can fix it and because of that FranKllr has already sent an email to the correct person.
NightHawk Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 Ekted says that Priit says that it's not a problem, beacuse whatever shenanigans you're doing to the map, you'll just get kicked out by a map security checksum mismatch. And before you go "ohh but it worked fine in my zone" - sysops are immune to those security checks.
FranKllr Posted April 22, 2004 Author Report Posted April 22, 2004 Hmm they didn't read my email right. If you do like 10 hole of 3 block wide you will never get disconnected. But I you are crazy and erase the whole map, like in dsb if you erease the whole star, you will get d/c after 10sec of playing in it. If you go ez on it, you will never get d/c. Yesterday, I played for about 45min into TW with that flaw... its harder to do it in TW because the map is smaller and they kick -*BAD WORD*- server shoot the map really fast.. but we still can do it. Anyway, if they don't want to fix it, OKAY.. people will continue to use it.. and get ban for only 1 week. Its in their hand...
»CypherJF Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 It'd be nice to know what they're doing so other zone operators can do something about it; but ... I wouldn't publically post it.
FranKllr Posted April 23, 2004 Author Report Posted April 23, 2004 cypherjf, the only thing zone operators can do is that watch and ban someone doing it. Its a bug into the continuum client, its undetectable but visually, only piitk or the other programmer can fix that and they don't take it seriously
SVS Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 Why don't you send him another email telling him that you are not a sysop and that you are able to use this without being kicked for checksum mismatches. Just to make sure things are clear.
ExplodyThingy Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 Better yet now that you have witnesses, send an eamil saying that SVS, Dustpuppy, and I have all seen it in action, that you stayed connected, and no errors were given. That should grease the wheels. And please dont spread this unnecesarily.
FranKllr Posted April 23, 2004 Author Report Posted April 23, 2004 Only piitk can fix it. I guess he will put that on his todo list. My thouth is that, don't expect a new release of continuum anytime soon.... This subject is over. Thanks all ! and trust me when I say something.

If you go ez on it, you will never get d/c.I wouldn't say you'll never get disconnected, but you are correct that if you keep the changes small, you can get away with it for a while. Given enough time, though, it should eventually find out. By the same token, I'd say that it's not a reasonable nor responsible solution to simply rely on the map checksum to find out, since there's no telling how long it would take to find it based on its current operation. Due to the nature of the level checksum algorithm, there is a finite nonzero probability that changes to the map won't be detected. The fewer changes you make and the more local they are, the greater the probability the checksum won't detect it. If you make widespread changes to the map, you increase the probability of those changes being detected.
Guest Guest Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Note: I also e-mailed priit about another issue a few players revealed to me some time ago and which Ekted had never seen. I have not gotten a responce from Priit, so I'm !@#$%^&*uming either 1.) he hasn't read it, 2.) he's read it and knows about it and wont respond or 3.) he just doesn't care or 4.) any of the above not listed. so, w/e.. if people use it, and catch em, ban em.
