Guest Dad Posted August 30, 2003 Report Posted August 30, 2003 if ur a zone op ?settings would open up in a text file or smth
viper16grl Posted August 30, 2003 Report Posted August 30, 2003 make it so that you can see who enters and leaves the zone in the chat area
»Admiral Kirk Posted August 30, 2003 Author Report Posted August 30, 2003 Thatll be easy enough, and by the way, i changed ?help to ?cmdhelp just to make everyone happy ^^
»Dustpuppy Posted August 30, 2003 Report Posted August 30, 2003 Might be easier rather than changing the GUI to show squads+stats, to just have a command (say ?info) that displays them. E.g. ?info bob prints bob's info, ?info prints info for everyone in arena.
viper16grl Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Right justified names - no can doUse // - too much worktimestamps - no problem, had it plannedplayer list - was already mentioned as the next stepdustpuppys sugestion - going one step further, mouse over, popup boxchange interzone to pm - already donebind f1 and f2 - acidental f2 = dc + autoreconnect = no pointauto cmds sent every arena - why not, no harm done, pain in the -*BAD WORD*- to fixspeccer gfx - part of sprucing the user list?freq - part of sprucing user listspelling - live with it EDIT: This is Kirk btw, i forgot to log onto my own name ^^ sry.
ExplodyThingy Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Kirk, you need help. And ?log doesnt work in autocommands. And i assume other client side ones dont either.
»Dustpuppy Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Kirk may be a programming genius, but asking him to spell stuff correctly is going one step too far What's the difficulty involved in doing the directory listing? Is it the GUI? I would have thought another simple window would be easier than the fancy player list.If it's the protocol that's the problem I can give you info on it, the directory protocol is pretty simple.
DrDevice Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 Right justified names - no can do Um, why not? Just have a ?namelen command like subspace does, and pad the front of the name with (namelen - ) spaces. You can even make it an option! Also, I found a bug in it last night. There was one player who was being added to the player list in every arena (and stayed on the list when I was switching arenas) who wasn't supposed to be there. Also, when you're "half in" an arena (when you're recieving messages but haven't recieved the player list yet, it shows messages with no names, like "> Hi!" instead of "Player> Hi!".
»Admiral Kirk Posted September 2, 2003 Author Report Posted September 2, 2003 D your a genious!! Itll look like crap on non-fixed-width fonts, but so does Ctm. Cant believe I never thought of that. As for the other "bugs" it only happens on slow connections so until now, ive never been able to diagnose it. Course, im not all that happy about being able to diagnose it now... (grumble grumble bloody 56k) but anyway, ill look into it. It happns very rarly though, so its hard to find. Anyway some eon or other when i actualy get a chance to do some programming again, ill see about adding that feature in, it shouldnt take more than a minute.
»Dustpuppy Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Cant believe I never thought of that. I concur
ExplodyThingy Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 I changed fonts to a fix-width one. Its sexy. And i like it non-fixed, more like IRC.
DrDevice Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 D your a genious!! Itll look like crap on non-fixed-width fonts, but so does Ctm. Cant believe I never thought of that. Yes, yes, I understand that you already know how to do it. But if you use a fixed-width font, then it looks nice. Plus, I really want it that way. But it looking like crap doesn't mean you can't do it, it just means you don't want to because it'll look -*BAD WORD*-ty.
»Dustpuppy Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 If it's an option then noone can argue
»Admiral Kirk Posted September 4, 2003 Author Report Posted September 4, 2003 I hadnt realy intended to make it an option... Thats kinda a pain in the -*BAD WORD*-, buuuut, ok, sure, an option it will be... I needed to expand the control pannel anyway. I guess sooner is just as good as later. Just that itll take me much longer to do it all. Also at this time I am expanding my Bot Core to basicly include every single protocol packet that SS and Ctm support, just for the sake of completeness, when i finish that or mabye before, ill start work on this.
Trained Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 Nice work kirk.. ooo aint like that rhyme..
Smong Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 I am expanding my Bot Core to basicly include every single protocol packet that SS and Ctm supportSo you will be making a client next, right?
viper16grl Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 (Kirk Wrote)> Very unlickly, heres why: Encryption: Im not in a mood to compete with Priit on cracking his encryptions to keep my client compatible with the current Servers. UI: Ive never dealt with DirectX or its ilk, thatd be a major learning curve for me to figure out how to make the game screen. Time: I have a job, a girlfriend, and a life. I just dont have the time necisary to poor into this to complete the prior two goals by myself. Now, if thier were a few tallented coders who wanted to work with me on this project, I might reconsider it as a posibility. But for the most part, all I have time to work on is the core. And the little bit of UI that my chat client needs. Admiral Kirk
»dr uniburner Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 I am not sure how much snark had done on his client...or what exactly he is up to...but if you wanted somewhere to start i think that would be a good place...not sure tho...yah.
»Admiral Kirk Posted September 11, 2003 Author Report Posted September 11, 2003 Snrrrub got a hole lot farther than Snark did, snark is lazy but Snrrrub hardly needs my help, he already has a very proficient core, if he wants my Chat UI, id probably be more than willing to do that for him (hey, i could be the next Ekted ) but ya, its just too much work all things considered realy, with very litthe gain, hence why no one has realy done it before.
»dr uniburner Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 i think i meant snrrrub instead of snark...it has been awhile since i had talked to him...it would be interesting tho to see how an alternate client would effect the game.
ExplodyThingy Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 Alternate client eH? I sense PriitK becomeing microsoft. Closed development and upgrades either makeing it LOOK better, or simply bug fixes.
shazbot Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 and putting out really stupid commercials.
