Jumbone Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 I am always being put in spec mode on this server. What's the deal is it my crappy dial-up connection or the 17thP server ? Other subspace servers don't give me anywhere near as much trouble. -jumbone Quote
Ladd Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 i am not 100% sure, but i think that happens sometimes becouse you got a low fps Quote
Jumbone Posted April 4, 2004 Author Report Posted April 4, 2004 I guess that could make sense. i run at 1280x960 that could give me some low fps. But still other zones don't drop me as much as 17p. Quote
DaKillaRoach Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 I have a lower frame rate in a smaller resolution. Quote
Jumbone Posted April 9, 2004 Author Report Posted April 9, 2004 You have been put in spectator mode due to no data (C2S) is the error I am getting. Framerate does not seem to be a cause, i get the same error if i am in 800x600 or 1280x960. Quote
Jumbone Posted April 9, 2004 Author Report Posted April 9, 2004 You have been put in spectator mode due to no data (C2S) I keep getting this error while playing on the 17th parallel. It's the only server that gives me this particular error. What is it and how can i fix it ? I play over a dial-up connection so i can expect being put in to spec mode from lag from time to time, but 17thP is always dumping me in spec mode with this odd error. -Jumbone Quote
Bargeld Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Lag, pure and simple. It could be anything from the amount of players nearby, to your hard drive swapping it's pagefile. But rest !@#$%^&*ured, no data (C2S = client to server) means you aren't getting your packets to the server. Sounds odd, but wiggle the phone jacks that go into the modem, and into the wall. If your phone line to the modem is near power cables, move them, and if you have a long cord that is rolled into coils... straighten it out so it doesn't create interference for itself (like an electromagnet.) Jumbone Posted April 9, 2004 Author Report Posted April 9, 2004 Thanks for the reply. Client to server = C2S that makes sense! I'll try those suggestions, why is it that only 17th Parallel gives me this specific error ? -jumbone Quote
Bargeld Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 They probably have tighter lag settings than other zones you've tried. Quote
»Maverick Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Some computers tend to lagout while they are loading the text.lvz that the public of 17th parallel uses. It is a complex file. For older computers it takes time to load the lvz (taking the whole processor for a few secs) and because you arent sending any packets during that time you can lagout because of this. Try disabling optional graphics and it might go better. You can disable optional graphics in View / Options / Other in the main menu of Continuum. Let me know the outcome -MMaverick Quote
Jumbone Posted April 11, 2004 Author Report Posted April 11, 2004 Turning off optional GFX seemed to help, but i am still getting occational specs with a C2S error. Quote
Dav Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 its a lag problem, which there isnt ,uch you can do about. Have you hopefully the probs should sort themselves out soon. Quote
