Enigma~ Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 Okay...maybe it doesn't suck, but it seems as if i can make a decent amount of kills with every ship except this thing...how the -*BAD WORD*- do you work this -*BAD WORD*- ship! its like as if they threw in the Lancaster from SVS zones and added a couple more bounces. If any good lanc players use read this....enlighten me...how to kill something with this ship. Quote

Cid Firefist Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 Green and type ?status until it says your shrapnel is 31 and sit in a base. Fire like 3 or 4 shots with multifire then throw a bomb or 2 in the middle of it. Shrap owns but it takes some greening. Quote

DaKillaRoach Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 Truthfully the Lancaster should revert back to its former self, it was much more of a better Team player Ship than it is now. So how do you use the Lancaster right? Well ill give you a few little pointers ive picked up and such The Lancaster you must always remember is a short range bomber, that is its main overall purpose. Against a Long range bomber it can suffer, against a fighter it can suffer, skill or not, a Lancaster GENERALLY needs a supporting teamwork to get the best out of it, unless you can do exceptionally well alone (not bragging here but I would class myself under someone who has mastered the Lancaster to a extreme level) So your a short range bomber, what difference does that make? Well it means that your bombs will hurt fighters, which when combined with using the multi fire bullets properly, and the decoys, can provide a effective Fighter hunter. The opposite effect can be achieved against long range bombers. But then we can move onto one of its main purposes, cloaker hunting and base offensive/defensive manoveres. The Lancaster has a X-Radar, when in base, use it, it will often save your butt more times than you would think, and with the bouncing bombs and multifire bulletsin constricted corridots, kiss goodbye to cloakers. So we can see how this helps defend or attack base cant we? Well ill elaborate a little more. A lancaster can with its bombs, prove a effective counter against all you Javvers with your bounce. Its a case of aim, and the ability to dodge, but Lancaster and a Jav with bounce in base can go head to head pretty well. Able to hit around corners, send bombs in places you wouldnt expect, and provide a suitable attack power with your aim, it provides a nice rounded ship for !@#$%^&*aulting a base, ridding it of cloakers, or defending it against the enemy. A vital thing about the Lancaster though is this; your angles. No amount of times do I say it, and people ignore it, but its true. Knowing your angles in a map with bouncing bombs and bullets is vital to success almost ALL the time. You cant use Lancaster bombs properly, if you dont know the angles, and where to fire a bomb to hit someone, and such. MANY times Ive been chased by Javs and Warbirds, and got easy kills because they dont expect complicated angle patterns when firing my bombs. I dont mean firing off a wall, past you, and back at them. Im on about shooting at certain Diagonals to send the bomb away then back again after a few bounces straight into them after they have fired more shots than they should of. The lancaster has more than one bounce to it, use it <_< I could go into much more depth about the Lancaster, and know doubt I could provide a detailed, and helpful guide but time at the moment doesnt let me, but take some of the things into consideration when piloting the Lancaster. In the right hands, it can bring a m!@#$%^&* amount of kills without much effort. Quote

Seems as I thought, this ship could be the worst or the best depending on the player controlling it...seems not at all like a good choice for a newbie, however look under Lancaster on the ship descriptions for 17th parallel news next time you enter the zone, says this ship is excellent for beginners and acommonly chosen ship. Lanc doesn't have bouncing bullets though, which seems like the perfect thing to add to it with its bouncing bombs. Quote

And Enigma, those ship descriptions are from the Old settings (The better settings!) although back then the lancaster played a little differently, still wasnt a beginner ship because it was and still is quite hard to use properly.
