As you might all have seen when entering 17th Parallel - there is something new in town....

 

It is Announcebot!

 

What does it do?

• It keeps a top 100 for a week period. You can see the current top 100 and your personal place in it with the !top100 command.
  
• Announcebot also announces news, the top 100 and everything else via the text displayed at the center of the map. It does this via a lvz file which you download when you have the "optional graphics" option turned on.
  

What doesn't it do?

• It doesnt cause lag in any way, it can only cause a little lower fps.

im sorry mav although i would love to believe that this thing doesnt cause lag....as soon as i downloaded it everything started to freeze for a half a second every few seconds....i know other people who are now experiencing this....it has to be down to that new thing in the centre....if possible can we have it without that but still so everyone can type !top100.....we dont need things that cause lag...u might have a great connection but some of us dont...and it really is havnig an impact...can we please just not have it....and send a green message saying to view scores etc type !top100.....

There has been a slight misunderstanding about the new top 100 feature in pub. Let me explain it.

 

You can only get in the race of the top 100 if you get on the "Most (...)" at the end of each soccer match. For example "[W ] Most kills: PlayerName (7 kills)" which is displayed at the end of each soccer match.

If this happens with your name, then your name is put into the !top100.

When you get on the "Most (...)" in more then just one match, then your old number is added up to the new number and that is put into the top100, probably on a higher position.

Recoil, your comment has been noticed, however you must be playing on one really old computer if this causes lag. I haven't got such a new computer either and I'm not experiencing lag, at least not from the new announcebot

I agree. If this is possible (which I'm sure it is) then the center box thing is pretty pointless.

I say you remove it, it's also a distraction for some players, and everyone doesn't know how to turn Optional Graphics off.

And that '17th Parallel' thing in the center should go too so ballers have more space.

 

This thing might've been kewler if 17th had a pub map which has a safety in in center like SWR, dsb, EG or RedStar (OMFG WE'RE BECOMING MORE LIKE THEM, HIRING STAFFERS FROM THERE TOO, YOU'RE SELLING 17TH'S SOUL, DIEE!! DIEEEE!) um.. yeah, but I don't think it suits 17th.

It looks pretty and all.. but if some players get distracted because of lag and all that then it's just so unnecessary, since the same function of this pretty eye-candy can be done with a simple bot command :x
