Dr Brain Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 The lag coma seems to be gone. Or at least, its critical point is a lot higher than it was. Many thanks to grelminar for providing the fix that did the trick. If you have a lag coma at any point, please take a screen shot, and post it here, or give it to me in game. Quote
Wargh!!! Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Lag coma is not all it seems. I experienced 2 lag comas in these conditions: 36.6k modem, while transferring between arenas,Max. Distance from server.one of them was while downloading. Quote
Dav Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 36.6k?? you sure? if so go get a 56k modem, thay are cheap and will allow you to get a few k more at least. Quote
Bomook Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 actually, just screw dialup, go for broadband I'm not sure how expensive it is there in NZ, but where I am, getting a cable modem (Cox Roadrunner) is only about twice as expensive per month as dialup (America Online) but about 5 to 10 times faster. Broadband is actually cheaper for me than dialup, since I do a lot of high-bandwidth stuff Quote
Bomook Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 unfortunately, it seems as if lag comas do exist. Just as I'm writing this, the zone population has grown to about 17 people, and the lag coma has followed. Although not nearly as rampant as before (even with a double population), the bug unfortunately still does exist. For some reason I cannot upload my screenshots, but in-game, I have pm-ed myself and have seen the message only once. In addition I've seen several 0-bty ships stuck in the center safe. On the plus side, our squad won't have to die yet Quote
Dav Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 dam, well its a step in the right direction. I agree that broadband is great. I have an NTL cable modem and 600k bandwidth. Quote
Cyanide Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I say it wont be fixed for at least anpother month or two..... Quote

Dav Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 i get a nasty lag bug in the zone. when i enter i have 50% ploss. I have to wait 10 mins for it to drop below 15% and a good 5 more before i can pick balls and flags when ploss is lower then 5% Quote
LiveForce Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Talking to grel last night, he believes that it has gone entirely (though he hasn't been watching HS closely) Quote
Dr Brain Posted April 10, 2004 Author Report Posted April 10, 2004 We haven't gotten over 25 since the last fix. I honestly can't say I know if its fixed or not. Quote
HypnoticKirby Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 I haven't got it since the latest fix, I just get disconnected for surfing the web in alt+tab mode which is normal. I just end up getting disconected due to high lag while surfing in alt+tab mode instead of a coma which is better. Quote
Dav Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 ASSS may finally be ready for the main stream Quote
FunkmastaD Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 HS was almost hitting 20 people earlier while Siaon was doing a trivia event and everything seemed fine and no one was complaining about ComasGetting Mook'd (too many reliable retry d/c) is kind of annoying though Quote
Dav Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 my packetloss problem upon entering has gone as well, i can play instantly now and i used to need to wait 10 mins. Quote
deadonarrival Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 Well i have a 56k and its almost impossable for me to play at all most of the time, i get constant lagouts, dc from server. ploss too high, lag to high. i love the zone but i just cant play it most of the time, and a suggestion, make it a little easier to get a ship going, ok for some 17 year olds in gap years with 8 hours a day on a 500k modem, what about 14year olds with 56k and 1 hour a day o_O maybe a few more k per kill with a new jav or summat. Dav Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 turn off any ie, downloads Instant messangers and anything using the internet Quote
»D1st0rt Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 increasing money would just make the division between you and them even more, because they'll still play for 8 hours Quote
NinjaMantis Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Well, I'll return this topic to discussion, because the lag coma problem has definitely not been fixed. I'm on a very good DSL connection, myself. They occur at random points, but myself and Lanvalk has run into... oh... 12 in the past week. At one point, I logged out of a Lag Coma only to reenter the zone into another Lag Coma. On the previous Sunday, I also ran into 3 lag comas at random points in time. These were independent of the server crashes used to debug the zone.I'd post a few screenshots, if it weren't for the fact that all places that I host pictures at can't hold graphics of the size that the screenshots are. Dr Brain Posted May 17, 2004 Author Report Posted May 17, 2004 How many people were in the arena at the time? Quote

Dav Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 convert with photoshop if you can, if not e-mail them and i will do it for you. That way they sont lose any colours Quote
NinjaMantis Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 It depends on the time. I had a Lag Coma with 5 people in the zone, once, but more often when there are at least 20. And once I can find your e-mail, Dav, and am not too lazy to click on that profile button, I'll send you that pic. Quote
