I was wondering if anyone knew how I can go about sectioning off a part of my hd and !@#$%^&*igning it a letter. The thing is I want to rip all of my cd's onto my computer so I can make mixes and backups incase they get stolen or break, and instead of having them in a folder, I thought it would be kinda nice to have them on their own "drive". Blah, that was a waste of time. It let me create a par!@#$%^&*ion out of the whole 7mbs of free space I had (or somethin) but wouldn't let me par!@#$%^&*ion the main drive. Then, it wouldn't let me delete the -*BAD WORD*- thing cause it was only the demo. So I said screw it and broke out the old 98 boot disk to fdisk the SOB, and it said wrong dos version. So now im going to break down and download the 10mb par!@#$%^&*ion magic... -*BAD WORD*- microsoft.

I'll just go pull down a couple of hundo's from the money tree I got in the backyard of my seven figure mansion and go buy 12 right now. You need anything while I'm back there pruning? :syrus:

I don't think it's possible to split up your harddrive's already used apce. Par!@#$%^&*ion Magic is usually used on just formatted harddrives.

You obviously haven't used it dirol.gif

Even if you have 7mb free space, you can still par!@#$%^&*ion a full drive with PM and move directories/files to the new "drive" in 1 single operation.

use maxblast (maxtors dos partioning utility) to remove the par!@#$%^&*ions then do a low level format from a bootdisk/ramdrive. then run maxblast again to set some nice new par!@#$%^&*ions and then reinstall win. moving os files around with a par!@#$%^&*ion program is shaky at best imho.

Boot off a Linux Live CD that has parted on it.

then use parted to resize your main par!@#$%^&*ion, and create a new FAT32 par!@#$%^&*ion in the new free space. A Windows boot disk will allow you to format it, and then restart to see your new drive letter.
