Fluffy White Bunny Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 I can ping zones for 100 cycles and get 0% packetloss, but when I enter a zone, I get S2C packetloss around 30%. I just replaced the motherboard on this computer, and before I did that, I didnt have any problems, however, the last time I used this computer before replacing the motherboard was over 2 months ago, so it could have to do with something else. The computer connects wirelessly to a router that is connected to a cable modem. Other computers that are hard-wired to that router do not have this problem. edit: I also seem to be getting around -10% c2s packetloss. Quote
ExplodyThingy Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 Router flaw. The trace isnt detecting the jump from machine to router it seems, but that looks like its youre router. You say it jsut the wireless machine, maybe proximity or interfereance are creating a problem. Also, -ploss maybe due to the router resending some data. Quote
Mr Ekted Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 Update the bios..carefully. Re-seat your NIC, and update your NIC drivers. Quote
Fluffy White Bunny Posted August 26, 2003 Author Report Posted August 26, 2003 Hmmm.... seems that if I place my laptop close to the wireless access point to get a signal strength of 100%, this problem disappears. I'm still confused since I could ping SSCU's server for a long time without loosing one packet, yet would still get high packetloss in the game :? Maybe the packets are rather slow, and continuum has a shorter time period before it identifies packets as "lost" compared to command prompt...?? But I still have an avg ping of 60.... Thanks for the help. Quote
Mr Ekted Posted August 26, 2003 Report Posted August 26, 2003 Ping/trace packets are a completely different packet type from those used in game. Routers can handle them differently. Quote
