Guest Furrie Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 -*BAD WORD*-o. About two weeks ago i got my sdsl, after being without any connection for half year. Before that i had 256/256 adsl. My current sdsl is 512/512. The thing that pisses me off now is too high ping. This current connection is supposed to be better and faster than previous, but it's more laggy ffs. It has been this now whole week, and it's enough to piss me off. Sometimes it's ok, my average ping is 200-220, but then it can suddenly throw me into spec (and in the middle of a flag game, not fun) and when i check my ping it can be as high as 600-700ms+. I play Extreme Games, and sometimes Chaos Legue. I live in Finland. I'm gonna attach a picture, so it would help some, (if i get it to work) This screenshot is taken during daytime, 5.00pm. Someone please also explain why NewYork etc is mentioned there? ;/ Need help and fast. Thanks. Quote
Guest Furrie Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Also, my computer is: Windows XP128 RAM (could this be the reason?)Geforce2 MX100AMD AthlonXP 1600+ Quote

MonteZuma Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 If you are in Finland and the server is in the US, it would hardly be surprising that you end up being routed through New York. I ain't an expert but I think this can be summed up by saying that your ISP sucks bigtime. Quote
Bargeld Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 The first two lines are:1) your router2) your cable modem the next line (this is where the problem lies... notice that it goes from 0 to 540) is the first router of your ISP. This means that you need to call your isp and complain about the service... if they argue, show them this trace (they may have you do some specific traces in order to prove it.) They need to fix it for you. http://www.bargeld.us/storage/trace.gif Quote
Guest Furrie Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 ok need to ask some noobish questions... If you are in Finland and the server is in the US, it would hardly be surprising that you end up being routed through New York. I ain't an expert but I think this can be summed up by saying that your ISP sucks bigtime. Why is it going through there? And if so, why doesnt anyone else suffer from this? (other finnish playes who play EG) Can i change it? Duh, my ISP is SurfNet and they claim it's better and more stable than regular ADSL... guess not =/ The first two lines are:1) your router2) your cable modem the next line (this is where the problem lies... notice that it goes from 0 to 540) is the first router of your ISP. By fixing you mean they come to my house and check something or are they gonna do it from their HQ ? --- latest trace: Tracing Zone: SSCX Extreme Games IP Address: 64.85.65.229 Hop IP Address Host Name Loss(%) Min/Avg/Max Ping--- --------------- -------------------------------- ------- ---------------- 1 192.168.1.1 <unknown> 0.0 0 0 0 2 194.252.102.41 <unknown> 0.0 0 0 0 3 194.252.102.33 <unknown> 0.0 250 480 680 4 194.215.75.195 octopus-2-3.surfnet.fi 0.0 280 490 750 5 194.215.75.225 shore.surfnet.fi 0.0 270 500 720 6 141.208.152.162 <unknown> 0.0 250 490 770 7 141.208.255.62 <unknown> 0.0 240 510 820 8 192.130.130.10 hki2-ge2-2.datanet.tele.fi 0.0 280 510 750 9 213.248.78.245 s-b4-pos2-2.telia.net 0.0 220 520 770 10 213.248.66.5 s-bb1-pos7-1-0.telia.net 0.0 200 510 720 11 213.248.65.25 kbn-bb1-pos0-0-0.telia.net 0.0 220 530 710 12 213.248.64.22 nyk-bb1-pos0-1-0.telia.net 0.0 310 610 810 13 213.248.82.10 nyk-i2-pos1-0.telia.net 0.0 340 620 830 14 208.173.135.33 iar1-so-3-2-0.NewYork.cw.net 0.0 370 620 810 15 206.24.194.102 agr2-loopback.NewYork.cw.net 0.0 320 620 840 16 206.24.207.53 dcr1-so-6-1-0.NewYork.cw.net 0.0 350 630 890 17 208.172.82.62 acr2-loopback.Seattle.cw.net 1.9 430 680 1000 18 208.172.81.222 bhr2-pos-0-0.Tukwilase2.cw.net 0.0 400 670 940 19 216.34.64.147 csr11-ve243.Tukwilase2.cw.net 0.0 390 680 1000 20 64.85.65.229 <unknown> 0.0 410 660 990 Cycles: 52 lol Quote
Guest Furrie Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Also, a thing i forgot to mention... i'm sharing this connection with two other computers, however they said it would not affect the speed at all (only when someone is dl'ing from other computers) My computer is the main computer, rest goes trough it. Excel Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 You're a customer. They have to take you seriously. And yes, the other two computers won't affect the speed just by being connected. Quote
