Internet Problem

My internet is not working good at all with Continuum. It is a satelite modem, connected at like 800k bps, and yet I'm the biggest lagger! Anyone have any ideas why this is happening and how to correct it? Thanks

Ping with satellite is supposedly ridiculously bad. Bandwidth, ping, and packetloss are 3 totally different things. You could have 100 megabyte connection and still have 1000ms ping.

Yeah...Communications satellites are in very high geostationary orbits, so even if the server is next door your packets travel further than someone living on the opposite side of the Earth using ground-based cables to connect to the server.

 

What you are experiencing is the same delay that you see on satellite hookups on tv, or phone signals sent over satellite.

 

When it comes to subspace, conventional satellite connections are always gonna suck. Dial-up is better. Unless you find a way to increase the speed of light?

Would the same thing go for me? I am on cable. I have great speeds for everything. EXCEPT continuum.. and this just started VERY RECENTLY. I've been playing for over a year. I just now started having this problem. HELP!!!!!!
