Eccentric Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 I would like to add another thing in the endless wish list (maybe Priit will take a look at the wish list before next decade ) I was thinking about arena size and how often some arenas are full, but there can be more spectators than players in those arenas. When deciding arena size you have to think what is a good maximum number of players PLAYING in the arena. But sadly, the spectators can fill the arena so that it doesn't work like it was supposed to. So what I would like is this: Separate spectator and player numbers in arena so you can limit things in a more smarter way. I guess you could make a limit for the "total" arena size too (spectators + players) if you think there is some need for it.
Mr Ekted Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 If you did this, you could be playing, decide to spectate and get booted to another arena? That would piss me off.
numpf Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 There are already settings for both of your suggestions. Misc:MaxPlaying - max players that can be in shipsMisc:MaxPlayers - max players, ships + spectators You must play in a -*BAD WORD*-ty zone like TW or EG, because those are the only zones I know that purposefully set the total limit close to the ships limit. If you don't like the fact that the total limit is close to the player limit in your zone, be prepared to be ignored if you suggest changing it. They have a reason for having it set the way they do. The reason they do this is to forcefully spread out players and have as many active arenas as possible. This, in a way, makes the zone more accessible and helps add to its population. Anyway, you said "more smarter" so I'm going to ignore you from now on. -numpf
Eccentric Posted February 19, 2004 Author Report Posted February 19, 2004 I'm sorry, was there something wrong with my english there. English is not my first language... so, maybe I'll write my next post using my languge. Then you don't have to look at such mistakes.

numpf Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 If English is your first language and that sentence isn't sarcasm, you're one of said kids. Also, I believe my post was on-topic, even if it included little jabs. Who decided to let you mod this forum? -numpf
Live-Wire Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 There really needs to be a way to move players instead of kick them. In zones that have small public arenas, it would be priceless to be able to evenly distribute players across arenas.

Dr Brain Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 This doesn't involve a client change. Only a server change. Means it's easy to do with ASSS, but you will have to wait if you need to use subgame.
