Siaon Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 Some people have recently discovered that running to a catapult and then staying in it, swapping indefenatly, makes it impossible to kill them. I have therefore declared it illegal. Example: Bomook gets all the flags and runs to a catapult, he has ?1 to ?8 macroed under his F-keys and now presses a random one every time he sees something blue and unferret-like. This is BAD and now ILLEGAL, don't do it anymore! Example: Siaon gets all the flags, runs to a catapult, goes to a sector and runs into it, after being chased round the base for a couple of times he again dives in a catapult and evades the evil criminals! This is okay! Quote
FunkmastaD Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 Maybe a time delay can be put on the Catapults requiring a few seconds before being able to use it again Quote
Bomook Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 lol that's exactly what we were thinking too Quote
Siaon Posted February 8, 2004 Author Report Posted February 8, 2004 Yes, I've posted a similar post in the staff forums with a suggested solution, which happened to be a cooldown of at least 10 seconds. Quote
FunkmastaD Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 If I were able to read the staff forum I probably wouldn't have posted then lol Quote
Coenny Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 I think maybe a 5 second delay would be better. example Coenny gets all the flags (ok i know its unlikely, but stick with me here). He goes to sector 3. as soon as i leave the catapult i see 5 blue dots. Being the pansie i am, and relizing i have no hope agianst mooky, siona, funk, col, and eurt, i run back into the catapult. Alas 10 seconds are not up..i get shot and lose the 4 million dollar jp. see my point? Maybe there is a way to make it to where you have to leave the catapult to reuse it. that way as soon as you leave, you can go right back in and wooosh gone...but i guess that could cause problems to. post ur thoughts Quote
Siaon Posted February 9, 2004 Author Report Posted February 9, 2004 No, the catapults are not meant as a way for you to get away, they are a transport system between sectors. 10 seconds at least; you can always attach you know. Quote
Bomook Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 I agree with Siaon. In normal cases of using catapults (even for scouting) someone would remain in a sector for at least a quarter of a minute before returning to the catapult, so I don't think 10 seconds will even affect them. Quote
FunkmastaD Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Just cause you aren't super kick -*BAD WORD*- like us Coenny doesn't mean anything lol10 seconds is more than enough time to rocket around the base like a coward and re-enter the catapult Quote
Bomook Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Coenny, your situation is possible, though quite esoteric. There'll probably be some other means of escape (friendly capship, warp, etc.). And catapults won't always be the only special means of warping, so it probably won't remain as a big issue. Besides, there's always the F3 key Quote

FunkmastaD Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 there you go 3 people have told you to do the same thing so there is more than enough ways to escape even with a timerBut if the catapults aren't point to point anymore it'll take about 10 seconds to get to the catapult anyways Quote
FunkmastaD Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 When my mind goes blank I don't type it on here or I'd look foolish lolIts ok D1 Quote
Tardy Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Why not just make the warping take energy away? Or the timed idea would be nice too. Because there isn't always going to be a mod to warn or ban the person for abusing that privlage. Quote
Coenny Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 if catapults took nrg they would be too high risk to use... 1 stray bullet and ur gone Quote
Tardy Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 I'm not talking about that much energy. Just enough where it takes time to get back in and go again. 3 seconds? And I only think 1 stray l3 bomb could kill you there, unless your a 1 bounty warbird or something. Quote
JoWie Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 errr, adding a 10 sec delay would destroy the soccer game Quote
Bomook Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 In scoring goals, I can imagine the delay to be annoying (if you catapult into sector 1, pick up the ball, and then have to wait), and it will make scoring freqs a little more specialized (one guy warps to sector 5, one guy retrieves the ball in sector 1, etc.) but that's about all the harm it'll probably do. I can't think of a way it would kill scoring Also, if the powerball is made to spawn at any random spot on the map (which it hopefully will ), then the annoyance and scoring freq specialization would be eliminated. Quote
Dav Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 talking of goals, it would be better to increace the ball hold time Quote
FunkmastaD Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Yeah if we increase the hold time, increase the money earned and make the ball spawn in a random place then having a 3-5 second delay in catapults will be nothing really Quote
