This has been discussed to death.

Billing protocols (social not software) will remain as they are, and it will be for the better, I !@#$%^&*ure you. Development is better now than its been in the past, so thats jsut dandy. If PriitK were to go the way of JeffP, I would suggest Mr Ekted be issued the source, since hes half the dev anyway.

Yes things could be a lot different and possibly a lot better. Most people know that SSC isnt necessarily the best software, but it has the strictest standards, is the largest, is the oldest, and is the official biller. Leave things alone. There have been a lot of discussions on said matter, and it has always ended in this position.

Wow, I sounded pretty closed minded in that post. Thats pretty unlike my ultraliberal ways.

I dont mean to say leave things as they are and quit dealing with it. I just mean to impart experience saying that in the past, this is what happens. Its a known and trusted mechanism.

Patience is the key. Eventually PriitK will go the way of JeffP, at which point he -*BAD WORD*- well better hand over the source of the client to someone willing to continue its development. Whoever the lucky fellow is (I nominate Grelminar personally.) can then open source it. We'll ditch SubGame. ASSS will become a standard across all zones. And then we can use whatever biller we want and make that standardized as well.

Yeah, I just painted a picture of a utopian dream... but it could happen. =p

As for ASSS becomingstandard acroos all zones, I dont see that happening ever. The reason being some people dont want t have to administrate Linux if they are already administrating a Windows server. It would kinda be a headache to some people to have to learn how to use Linux to use ASSS.

Yeah, but how long has the current server been around, and how much dev has been done on it over the years. Give ASSS the same amount of time and it will be better.

1) ASSS can be run in windows.

2) ASSS has way more features.

3) server admins that don't know linux don't deserve to call themselves server admins.

i predict with absolute certainty that every single large zone will switch over eventually

Its not laggy, if anything ASSS wouldnt cause lag I dont think, its the host. Your thinking of HS, and all the modules (plugins sorta for ASSS) arn't complete for HS, so hang in there blum.gif

Alright people heres how it stands as I see it:

SubGame is the dominant force.

ASSS is still in development, though be it late stage, therefore it still has blairing flaws.

ASSS will be much more effective, its more customizable and streamed.

ASSS can potentially run on any system.

ASSS will become a codominant force with SubGame.

Be patient.

The real test will be when ASSS is stable enough in PriitK's eyes for him to try it out in TW. If it can handle TW, it's as good as gold. And don't tell me he'll never abandon SubGame. I know for a fact this isn't the case. He just won't be abandoning it any time soon. =p

DoCk> says a lot of things. He just doesn't ever want to see the switch take place because it would probably make his Java bot core obsolete. Who knows what the future will bring for sure though! =p

Theyre not saying change billers, if tw was ever to move servers (wich will never happen) it would be on SSC no matter what, if not, its dosnt matter what biller itll be on. It would move to ssi, and SSI would be the most popular biller, and everyone one want that blum.gif

Isnt that what I just said?
