Would you like that? I know I wouldnt.. Im sure theyre's plenty of reasons all zones dont have ssc, plus how would you feel about making a new port everyday for a certain zone? Yupa Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 it'd be enough to just allow respectable hosts to give SSC billing to all of their zones basically at this point, it'd just allow for all SSI zones to have SSC billing that'd be nice

Oh well, such is life... I agree that SSC billing for all SSI zones is a good idea, but then again i'm biased. noob

You not being around to admin the server is a big one, or another might be how you make it a pain for zones you host to move to a different host by not furnishing their files. As far as i'm concerned, just upload it or send it to me and i'll get it up asap.As for not being online to restart zones, yes, that has happened once or twice, due to the server's auto-restart not working correctly. I'm working on process server access for all zones on the server to negate that problem.To be quite honest, I don't really have the time to run SSL, but what I do do i see as being a FAR more reliable service than that offered by NTC at the moment. -also, FTP has been using as much as double the bandwidth of the actual server, and it has been abused in the past- noob

Eventually PriitK will go the way of JeffP, at which point he -*BAD WORD*- well better hand over the source of the client to someone willing to continue its development. Whoever the lucky fellow is (I nominate Grelminar personally.) can then open source it. We'll ditch SubGame. ASSS will become a standard across all zones. And then we can use whatever biller we want and make that standardized as well. Yeah, I just painted a picture of a utopian dream... but it could happen. =p

Too many people want "power" in this game, so having the code go open source would just give more people more "power" than they really need, and it would be abused to the point where it would drive all the players out. I personally don't have a problem with the way things are setup now. I can log in, play, have fun, that's all that matters. If it ain't broke don't fix it. As for the biller, it would be nice of the central biller was actually central, but I don't see that happening. The invite method works fine, and it doesn't look like it's going to change any time soon. SSC billing is more of a priv. than a right, and I don't have a problem with the way it is setup, then again, I don't run a zone nor host zones, so that opinion is coming from the view point of a player.
