Hello SSpacers!

Quick question about Maps and Subspace!

Does continuum use special new tiles that can't be used in the old subspace?

Or is it something to do with the colour tiles and depth?

Ie no new tiles but colours that don't work

or does Drake map editor do something that subspace doesn't like.

As i want most zones being able to work with as many types of subspace as possible!

Thanks for your help!

To elaborate a touch..

It's got nothing to do with the game clients themselves , Axe, that error is coming from (I'm assuming) SSME 8.1? when you try to open a newer map...
SSME can't read the new tiles (as Cheese correctly pointed out) so you get that error.

Any game client can see either tile set type ; I run multiple types on my own home server : Ie; I have maps completely edited in SSME and maps completely edited with Drake.. ...and there are no visible differences in game.

As well, Most of what you see graphics wise in zones are driven by the .lvz files.
Eg:, the writing @ A1 in Chaos, and the Leader board below wobits house are .lvz entities, and not part of the tileset.

Drake is really nice the more I use it.. it does some cool things. :)
But, if you fancy using SSME and just want to basically hack things up, it will still work,
you just cant really use it again in SSME if you open said map in Drakes and save it.

No many of the special tiles that can be run with drake and able to be played with Continuum can't be played with some of the older clients they will download the map and crash out when trying to play it. I'm sure its due to the fact those other tiles were supposed to be used later on.  Much the same way as many of the invisible tiles were going to be turned into something later on.  When Drake saves it in drake/continuum ready state the map will load and play with continuum,  But that doesn't mean  the old clients will like the format.

.

SSME is set for the older world of Subspace if SSME can load the map then SS1.34/1.35 can play it.

Lvls etc i'm not worried about for classic SS as i thought most of the lvz over lay files were only for continuum but i have not played around much with lvz i'm sure i will later on but i only really care about game play.

I like both map editors but SSME is more stable by far.  Drake Map editor added lots of fun functions and to be able to play with the special tiles are also good.  If you notice SSME doens't show you any of the tiles past 190.

I;ve done a lot of work with every client i can find and always finding more tricks and workarounds to make everything play but i do appreciate your input :)
