Hakaku Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 Most likely Windows DEP is blocking Continuum: It may also be possible that your computer has Data Execution Program (DEP) enabled for all programs. For Windows XP, right click on “My Computer” and follow “Properties > Advanced > Performance Settings > Data Execution Prevention” Once you have opened DEP, see if you have 'Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only', if so, check 'Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select'. Next add Continuum.exe to the list, and apply. Then you can go back to 'Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only' if you'd like, and it will load fine. For Vista and Windows 7, go into “Start > Computer > System Properties (button under the link bar) > Advanced System Settings (on the left navigation menu) > Performance (click settings)”. Now move over to the one that says “Data Execution Program”, and add Continuum to the list. Quote

Hakaku Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 Did you kill the running process first? (i.e. ctrl+alt+delete > make sure to get rid of Continuum first). Otherwise, check here for other possible solutions: http://www.subspace.co/tutorials/article/3-why-will-continuum-not-load-for-me/ Quote
»Axe Demento Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) Try the Other Version the 2.0Make sure your running continuum from the directory not just the short cut on desktop. Try running subspace 1.35 or installing anything else?I just installed a copy of Continuum and SS on a windows ME that couldn't use windows installer. I can toss you the files unzipped if you want. This machine also only had one usb port tho i have another laptop with windows 1995 that didn't even have one! ...AxeSSDZ KAOS Axe Demento SVS Edited April 4, 2014 by Axe Demento Quote
HanSolo#1 Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) Dude, I tried a bunch of thiese ideas, and I still can't get it to play on that XP box, I can other other XP machines,Odd thing was there was like 99% usage of CPU and could not kill the process - had to re-start comptuer to get rid of it. But I found a MAC VERSION - Subspace was the last PC game I had to have an XP box for - heheheh Dude - it works pretty good! - But you have to change the keyboard defaults, and that is a bit odd... Here: http://www.subspace.co/topic/25908-installing-on-a-mac-guide/page-3?do=findComment&comment=285257 Http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?aqfqf423g9br97f Hope the link / page lasts for years to come! Aelfgar Posted July 7, 2014 Report Posted July 7, 2014 My problem is a bit similar: I used to log in and play with no problems. Then I had to format my computer. As it's not the first time I do that, I did not back up continuuum folder. For a while (like 5+ months), I had no time for games. But now I do, and wanted to play continuum again... So I installed continuum from an exe back up, and now I'm facing the unusual message "Continuum has detected a problem and should be closed" and that happens only when I want to set up my Profile... I downloaded "zones" and no problems... I've tried google searches, and no hints... Tried to play on safe mode with network functionality, and happened the same... Tried changing compatibility parameters, and happened the same... Tried changing resolution on shortcut, and nothing... Tried downloading a "newer" exe file, but seems to be that the last version was 0.40; I downloaded it anyway, installed it, but same results... I'm running it in my (very) old dell inspiron 6400, win xp sp3, 2gb ram... and I was able to play before formatting... Any hints ? Thank you in advance... Quote
