Cosmic Rift and Infantry

Hey Subspace community!

 

Some of you may be aware of Cosmis Rift, a game veryyyy similar to this one, in fact the developers went on to develop cosmic rift and infantry shortly after subspace was released.

 

Why am i posting this? Well Infantry/Cosmic Rift were once very popular games with thousands upon thousands of people playing at once, but the various changes with the game's owners made it hard for players to find us, and the fact that the p2p period 12 years ago scared off our players. Now the whole game is completely community run and completely free, anyone can develop their own game type zones if they wish, but our problem is that we are lacking population...our peak populations come in at about 40-50 people at a time

 

We just brought back a Cosmic Rift zone called Chaos Zone that i think you people would love, flying spaceships, different classes, cool weapons etc... AND its easy to get into, the chat interface works exactly the same as the one you're used to in subspace, it has the same 2D bird's eye view and the interface and gameplay imho are easier to understand.

I played it when it first came out as well as infantry. Alot of the population was from Subspace. I also played in the first season of League and we made it to the finals and lost. I will take another look at it as it has been a looong time. The game engine for both are the same one for subspace.

I did like infantry with the team work but never played it as much as the classic SS.

The best combo for me still would be SS 2.0 with the same game play but more ships and toys and map options.  No need to make it 3D or do much with the high end graphics.  SS is classic.  As long as the ships fly in a similar way I can enjoy it.

Actually, it's true that the game used to have thousands of players. CR never really had as high a population as Infantry, but it did have it's glory days of several hundred every day.

 

I don't know if they still rotate Chaos Zone in on FreeInfantry any more. Hopefully.

i vaguely remember arguing this exact same thing about fucking cr and/or infantry one night a couple years ago. i say a "couple" it was probably more like ten.
