Hyperspace as I saw time passed

2007 - When I first appeared. Still played Trench Wars then. Hyperspace was Brickwarp VS Lag Coma, I sat in Spec watching them and/or sucked in center.

Later 2007 - Once in a while I'd get in a pub freq, but we'd lose. One time I got recruited into a "pro" freq, but I died (and had no Antideath). I began to assume I was terrible... but then I backed off, said I was good, and continued to be pro (or suck). I forget when, but more changes happened, and more people started joining the game. Privs got bigger, I still usually lost, unless the other team sucked too much that mass gunlining worked, or a bunch of (pro) rushers kept the team alive, or some cobalt or something.

 

Then the game, for me, got worse. I liked the chaoticness of that time... basing was (more) unpredictable, most it has been (in my knowledge). Although I still lost alot, so maybe thats just some rose-tinted glasses or something. Anyways, I felt like that chaoticness made up for the "bad" people that played (because bursts were strong, repels were strong, and gunners could make as annoying of a gunline as rushers could pressure you). It was the one time where you could feel like your team was "pro" because your team's ~3 sec. gunline held off those "noobs" (who couldn't get past because they were obviously too nooby, ofc). But it wasn't to last forever.

 

These days, due to my glasses, I feel like complaining. All the time. Because, I liked the game before better. When it was more chaotic. When your gunline being held meant you were "pro". Sure, the game has elements of the past now... but its just not the same, y'know?

 

Sigh... I need to get over the "good old days"... that seems to gone so fast... and embrace the "bad new nights"... that seems they'll always be here.... forevermore...

 

Sigh... the days I long for... the days I wish come back in Hyperspace...

I remember hearing about hs way back.  I entered zone and it was just way to confusing with ammo and such.  I gave it my 3 hours and left, not to return for many many years.  All the other zones i played in died for one reason or another.  

 

I decided to give hs another go.  I logged on and was again not sure what to do.  There was a decent size flag game going on and i did not even know how to join or attach.  I was thinking of leaving but kevinz started pm'ing me to Flag! Flag! Flag!

 

I remember thinking he must be a mod or somthing, so i listened to him and flagged.  Been hooked ever since.

 

I miss the old days of kevinz telling everyone to flag.  Its just not the same now...

man, i loved those days. Now bounty doesnt mean anything... It "works" in center, but not like it used to...

 

And I remember those good ol priv freq days. It was the only time I ever liked to lanc, mainly due to the fact that I knew how capable my team was. It died right along with the server tho. After the change, the zone took a nose dive :/

yeah dr brain consciously and deliberately removed it because he wanted quick, short flag games

my favorite time was with the normal sized ships, overpowered terr, money overflow bugs, no exp (i've had 2 billion thrice haha). The money gained from bounty was way too much though.

 

I also remember the time before that with area bots disconnecting. Last man standing would get all the kills because others had no prizes. (with the little center spawn square). I was like 14 or something at the time.

Ah those freakin area bots, what a complete pain. I remember when your freq number decided what kind of FTL you could use, catapult freqs were the worst.

That whole side of the zone (the area bots and the ?buy system) grew out of a bet with Nikon F5 to show he was doing *his* buy system wrong. My original focus for the zone was on the Hypertunnels and FTLs (like the aforementioned catapults).

 

In retrospect, that should pretty much explain everything that's ever happened in the zone.

Hyperspace through out time.. lol bad title. You'd need an electron microscope to find it on a time chart of the world. Humanity's time here would just be a dot. Unless you mean your life time. WHICH is still a bad title, unless you started playing when you were 2 years old. =/ I see hyperspace as one of the few zones that actually gets things done. Whether they make poor decisions or good ones, at least shit gets done. Overall from the past until now things have gotten better in HS as far as balance and game play.

Anyways, there were clearly older days than I in Hyperspace. A money integer overflow certainly sounds... omnomnomful.

 

I also like when priv teams could have a name tag.
