Hey Subspace,

As many of you already know, I've been plotting an email newsletter campaign for Subspace. I'm thoroughly plotting the first of what will hopefully be monthly Subspace newsletters.

I just want to share what I've devised with the community and ask for ideas, thoughts, critique, suggestions, assistance, resources, etc.

Here's what I've done so far:

  • Purchased a SendGrid account. I can send 40,000 emails per month with my current plan.
  • Collected a total of 11,386 Subspace player's email addresses. If anyone is holding on to any subspace emails, or can access a database of emails (for example from zone forums, registrations) - please consider contributing them to this cause. Export a .csv or .txt
  • Created a template using SendGrid's template creator .. in this way I was able to be sure the template is utilizing industry-standard format.
  • Collected zone descriptions and current news from: Trench Wars, Extreme Games, Hyperspace, Death Star Battle and Devastation. Wish I had more, but that's all I received upon request. I waited a few weeks and asked every major zone. No longer waiting. If you are reading this and represent a zone that isn't mentioned above - please send me a detailed zone description.

The template looks like this so far: (just the top part, the rest of the zones are listed in the same fashion)

It includes all the proper / standard unsubscribe buttons and whatnot. I'm creating this by the book.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Critique?

Thanks Subspace,

By hijacked, simply if you had an account there, and logged in, you could view everyones e-mail, might be limited to your own squad, but i was in a few squads throughout the years. Logging on would grant me access to everyones e-mail in the squads i've played for.

But sure i'll send you all the e-mails i have by e-mailing you.

Keep in mind probably 60% of them expired. You'll probably get a lot of mailer-daemon failed to deliver reports back.

A good idea is to contact the Hockey league, DSB league.nu, and any other league website admins, and ask them for e-mail lists. As they will have tons of e-mails from people who registered for the leagues over the years.

Also your representations of subspace zones just won't be complete without Hockey zone. Try get something from Hockey zone.
