cxc Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 Bricks have 2 uses, 1. to block an enemy bomb line so your own bombers can get set up2. end games by keeping attacking team on other side of a wall (if thats what you want, play in zone with zero pop) 1 is great, 2 is horrible. Option 2 is used when both teams are fully engaged, determined, and taking over the flag room. In a game like this you cant afford even 1 dropper and the flag room keeps changing hands (which is my definition of a good game). Good games are rare. I would like to see bricks act as walls enemy bullets/bombs only. But let enemy ships fly right through. That or put a 5 minute delay on deployment. Quote
Psythe Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 The best that can be done with modifying bricks is what Sparse brick does: allows weapon penetration, but blocks ships. Bricks cannot be modified to be other tiles, they're weirdly special like that. Quote
Bak Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 You could prevent the offensive team from dropping bricks if a win is about to happen. Or prevent both teams. Or just near the flag room. Or they could be made visible just to the team dropping them (this would make weapons inconsistent). Combined with an LVZ image showing the enemy team where the bricks are, this would almost have the effect that you want. Quote

Samapico Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 Once they are dropped, the only thing that makes a brick disappear is its 'alive time' on the client side. My suggestion would be to have a delay on the brick, just like fields. It would prevent Psythe from abusing them, at least Quote
Psythe Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 Yeah. The price is right on bricks, but that price is meaningless when you have a good FTL to grab them over and over. Same with fields, except the delay makes ftl a little less ridiculous for obtaining it. Quote
