dezmond Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Hey Guys, We (TW) are currently looking for a professional Youtube video to demonstrate Subspace Continuum in the modern era. We'd like the video to show a variety (different zones) to make it more appealing to potential new players. If you think you are up for it then let me know! I'm not expecting something as professional to be free - but we can discuss more later. Thanks! Quote
»Xog Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 (edited) lol. i love how nearly everyone in this game is always trying to come up with ideas on how to make this game thrive, and do nothing but tell other people to do it. so pathetic. go make something happen. you want to be a hero? stop trying to hold a position to claim the glory if something does happen, and just be that hero and do it. then watch it fail miserably as you know nothing about the youtube community. by the way - if you want to make a youtube video, just realize it will be a waste of time and will not work. Static Burn Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Doesn't get more professional than this Quote
Lone Outlaw Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 (edited) There is nothing wrong with being an organizer, who can get skilled people together to accomplish something. Squad Captains do this.People like Dr. Brain did this, he rarely if ever codes for Hyperspace (correct me if im wrong), instead he made the zone, and gathered skilled people together who he could trust to manage the zone the way he wants, and code for it. Your argument can be, well Brain knows programming. So someone should only organize a team or event if they can do those things themselves? One can still lead a group without having the skills of that group. Take for example Game creation. The leader of the project, won't necessarily be able to do everything that the 20 or 50 man team can do. That's why a team is required in the first place. He can be a programmer, but still require a team of graphic designers. He can be a programmer, but still be better suited to running a team of programmers, rather than programming the game himself. Leadership, motivation, incentives are all to appreciated as valueable things a person can bring to the table. The alternative approach is to tell Dezmond. Do nothing, if you won't do it yourself first. If anyone follows this advice, then definitely NOTHING will get done. At least dezmond is doing something, primarly what he can, or is cabable of doing. Which is admirable. It's better to see youtube videos still being created to promote subspace/continuum, rather then to see nothing being made because you discouraged people who can't make videos (For whatever reason, lazy, stupid, busy) from trying to get videos made. »Lynx Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 People like Dr. Brain did this, he rarely if ever codes for Hyperspace (correct me if im wrong) Corrected. Sorry to be negative, but making another YouTube video won't help as the game is just dying due to lack of development. Contributing however possible to other projects that have already been started will. Personally, I feel this is the most promising one. You can play it here. Snrrrubs server is closed source, however I started development of an open source server for it a while ago in Node.js however I'm a little busy right now; will likely carry on in a few weeks when work demand reduces. Lone Outlaw Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) It still gradually represents what i had in my mind of Dr. Brains Involvement in HS. From, 50 different upgrades/fixes in 2010, And likely 50-100 before that in previous years. He pretty much cut down to 5 upgrades/fixes in 2011, and 2 in 2012.(Of course one can certainly make a case that he fixed everything that needs to be fixed, gradually as you code so much, if your coding is good, you eliminate the need for more fixes) And i am guessing his upgrades/fixes where on the high end of something in the zone. Something only he has access too? Like the WIN32 fixes? (sorry i am not a programmer, please bear with my ignorance) All that i aside i started playing HS in 2012, so i think i am fairly accurate when speaking from my own experience. SpiderNL does a lot of the coding now? Of course if you rebut this succesfully i'll concede to your argument. I am just not wholly convinced as of yet. Yes it's true another youtube video does little, and is not what we need, but IT IS better than nothing. And it is useful to do for a person like me, who has no talent to help continuum in any other way. If i could code i definitely would. But all i can do is a make a youtube video. (As an example). Sharvil Nanavati is always involved in something it seems =p, What is his version of subspace called? So yeah, let me add to what i said earlier, big mistake on my part, as i did believe he coded for HS, just not anymore (i was also in a rush when writing, so didn't edit my post like i usually do) People like Dr. Brain did this, he rarely if ever codes for Hyperspace anymore (correct me if im wrong), instead he made the zone, and gathered skilled people together who he could trust to manage the zone the way he wants, and code for it. PoLiX Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 Only suggestions I'd have is maybe cut it down to near 1-1.5mins, and have a zone list without all the offline zones. Otherwise looks good. Quote
Resol Posted April 30, 2013 Report Posted April 30, 2013 and have a zone list without all the offline zones. Why? That's exactly what you get when you install the game. Quote

wo. Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 the videos well done but the musics annoying imo and it looks so poverty without ship rolls. for any future videos only self footage should be used just because it looks way better. Quote
Lone Outlaw Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 The zone list could use work, you could wait for a time when there is an optimum number of people online. Hockey zone has 60 people latelyChaos zone has 72 right now.Hyperspace usually has 20-30Devastation can reach 12. Quote
