Dug Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 Id say 0 prox, no execptions even proxy mines, for that matter why even have mines, this is a DUEL w/e G DUEL, i just dont see why this is even a option. Now as for the 2 differant duels, 3vs3 Javs, 3vs 3 wbs (will be a terrrible idea, but wat ever id like to watch it just to see how stupid it will be) and to be honest pk If there will be a Co op match like 1 wb and 2 javs on a team, i dont really wanna participate it something like that, idunnno i might change my mind till then but it just sounds like a bunch crap Quote
NuB KiNG Posted February 11, 2013 Author Report Posted February 11, 2013 are you saying 3v3 javs and 3v3 wbs will be a terrible idea and also saying mixed 1 wb 2 javs is a crap idea also?what do you recommend? i dont think we even have enough players, id rather just cancel this and let the zone rot Quote
Dug Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 NOooo, im saying JAvS vs JAvs is great just x out anyprox aviaivible, I would just like to see WBs vs WBS just to watch it Flop,i just dotn see the fun in it, id like to be provin other wise......i dunno illback you up in any gduel there will be, soo im preety much making my chatter Redundant Quote
Unix Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 (edited) I'd imagine having events in place prior to a tournament would be a better idea. Working with Psythe, since he's the only one willing and able to help do this, would be a good place to start. Having the events in place will allow you to have a standard and base, then at the same time foster the competition and group aspects that's required for something like this. Team work is virtually non-existent, squads are at best in their infancy, and there's no standard norm that we can all agree on. Also events would allow you to tweak things, such as ship setups, specials or not, what typeof bombs, etc. Edited February 12, 2013 by Unix Quote
Samapico Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 Yeah... definitely should make it a hosted regularly before making a league or tourney. Maybe have some scheduled games. If only 6 people can play at a time, however, most people might not get the chance to play, so this might need some kind of multi-area map where, say, 2, 3, or maybe even 4 games can take place at once or something. This would require a bit of dev work, however. Nothing too complicated. Maybe even a good ol' Mervbot could do the trick. I wouldn't mind spending some time on this, but there's no guarantee they'd let any module run on the server, for many reasons, so... But I'd say, first get a map up, and start with manual hosting, see if it gets popular. HS does need some actual competitive events, in my opinion. Quote
BZAP Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 No need for awkward rules and ship restrictions. Run two events:- For "polite" play have javs only, no prox, no items, no mines.- For free play allow warbirds, prox, and mines. I don't agree with mixing the two because the amount of QQ resulting from use of prox and md is enormous. Such is the attitude of nearly every non-vet. Quote
Cheese Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 NO GUNS NO BOMBS NO JAVELINS NO ITEMS NO ANTIWARP NO XRADAR Quote
NuB KiNG Posted February 12, 2013 Author Report Posted February 12, 2013 (edited) probably a regularly hosted event during the day sounds good, it should reel people into the style of playing etc etc, but who is willing to host it and have time for it? no one. i agree non mixed is probabaly best. and sama we do have a map, its ?go league tweaked by psythe it runs smoothly Edited February 12, 2013 by NuB KiNG Quote
Samapico Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 Also, single elimination sounds like a lot of setup for a short match...Alternatives:-Time based, most kills wins after X minutes-X lives per player-X lives per team (i.e. team is out after a total of X deaths) X doesn't have to be large... In 17th Parallel, we used to host this Rumble event, depending on the number of people and what they wanted, we would change the objective (i.e. to 10 deaths, to 15, or 20). Hosted events could use a variable amount of death, but eventual leagues would use a fixed number, based on what seems right. Non-pros might prefer something where they can at least play for more than 10 seconds my 0.02$ Also, if they give me power to, I'll host Quote
Acer Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 I'd like to see this actually happen. If it does, and it happens to be successful, host another one and I shall join (After I wash off all the rust on my bird and jav). On another note, I agree with Sama. Single elimination wouldn't be as fun solely because matches wouldn't last more then 2 minutes. I think it would be a heck of a lot more fun if the objective was to get a certain amount a kills total within your team to win. It would provide the need for teamwork more then that of single elimination. Also, perhaps, having a time limit of 10 minutes to fulfill the task would be another great addition to the match because it provides another variable, another way of playing/thinking. A poll could be used to determine the amount of kills along with the time limit. Quote
