spittnacid Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 Is it possible? Some sort of automated module that texts/emails players when 1 freq has all the flags and only during certain days/times setup by the player. This way if someones at work they won't get notifications. Probably a bit of work but a good idea to bring ppl who don't want to spec all day waiting for a game to pick up. Quote
noldec Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 Didnt monkey had a bot that tweeted every x minutes how many people were on freqs 90/91 Quote
spittnacid Posted January 20, 2013 Author Report Posted January 20, 2013 Its a great idea, what happened? I just suggested text or Email cuz its universal. twitter is so trendy and stupid. Quote
spidernl Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 Call it trendy and stupid, but it's much more convenient than email or texting. Texting is bound to cost real-life cash to do. Email requires players to "sign up". Twitter, on the other hand, lets a bot or module simply send out messages, and whoever wants to check if anything is going on just goes to a bookmarked twitter page. I don't use twitter myself, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have its uses. Quote
spittnacid Posted January 24, 2013 Author Report Posted January 24, 2013 who doesnt have an email account? everyone does but i know at least 2 ppl that dont use twitter. Quote
spidernl Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 Did you read my post at all? You don't need to "use" twitter. You click a link and you get a list of flaggames and population. Don't need to sign up for Twitter. I didn't say people don't have email accounts. I said you would have to first -sign up- for the bot to let it -know- your email account. Why do that when the above method is much more convenient for users? Quote

Why do that when the above method is much more convenient for users?because you have to manually check the twitter link or refresh, unless it auto refreshes. Also is there a sound or vibration? Most ppl have unlimited texting or have their email setup with their own sounds or other sensory notifications. Rather than;constantly checking a link, you can can be notified whenever the music plays. Quote
spidernl Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 And we're going to assume that sending out up to thousands of texts per month, worldwide, would be free? I somehow doubt it. And I suspect that if people badly wanted those vibrations, they could sign up for twitter and use some app to automatically tell them of updates. Now, you're bound to start complaining "not everyone has twitter" again, but if you want extra features, then you'll have to put in some effort. Also, texting suffers from the same problem email does: it requires you to sign up (your phone number, even). Quote

You stress sign up but isn't signing up show commitment and interest in the zone? PS if you don't believe me give me your number and I'll send you a text via email. Dr Brain Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 What's your problem with twitter? This is like the one thing in the whole world it's decent for. No need to sign up, just subscribe to the RSS feed. I'm sure there are ways to get it to forward to an email or SMS too. Quote
Lone Outlaw Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 meh i dislike twitter too, and facebook, and google.. but i see no problem with what spidernl is doing.. especially since it doesn't require sign up to twitter to view the stats. As well, google i am forced to use because its useful, no matter how much i want to boycott them.. and facebook just sucks, sorry needed to get that in there.. heh. Is it possible to make the game automatically e-mail you? If you provide an e-mail to the bot? not sure if this was already covered, but i am tired, and didn't really understand.. i think e-mails would be better than twitter.. because i actually check my e-mail once a day.. myself.. and i don't use twitter.. personally. spidernl Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 Probably, yes. It was Monkey's bot, though, not mine. Quote
Fryroy Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 So...? Is there an automated system that informs of FGs real time available? I don't care what medium is used. I'll sign up for anything (free) that would let me know real time that a FG is in progress. I cant imagine anyone who's serious about getting into FGs wouldn't.. Wat happened to this idea? Revive it please. Quote
