cxc Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 There is to much green in my chat. So much my brain filters it out and i miss important things. All zone messages are green. Mods will announce in green. And personal messages are in green. Can the ball, kill and enter/exit messages be made the same color as public chat? These things create a lot of green spam. examples of green zone messages entered arenaEnemy goal by OnuzimMX (worth $700)! Jackpot +$200Woofie left arenaYou received $33 for goball's kill of Pennyroyal Tea. Quote
Cheese Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 distension uses all the colors ?find cheeseand your enter msgs are client side and cant be touched Quote
Samapico Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 You can move enter/leave messages to the center of the screen instead, same goes for kill messages. All this can be toggled with the ?enter, ?leave, and ?kill commands. IMO, some messages like the ?give/?shareexp messages should be in purple or something. These can be easy to miss in the middle of a game, or at the end where all those stats come up. Quote
spidernl Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Not a bad idea. I haven't really looked into color-coding chat, to be honest. Not sure what's "available". Quote
Lone Outlaw Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 (edited) This has always been a problem, kept bitching about it too.. Especially how dumb it is that mods announce in green.. they are better off announcing in red. enter and leave messages are lame in center, better in chat, i moved them in chat specifically so i don't miss them, as they are recorded after. And in center, once it's gone, it's gone, and it only lasts a few seconds. Especially if 5 people enter at once, or 5 deaths happen at once etc.though i rarely miss them in chat because they are short, compared to the long green sentences everything else makes. Not sure what's "available".Pretty sure only purple and red messages can be sent (other than pub-blue, team-yellow and already-too-much-of-it-green) Something else that could be nice, is when you're in a ?buy category menu, it could print in purple the item(s) you have equipped on your current ship Quote
Cheese Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 http://forums.minegoboom.com/viewtopic.php?t=8384 one of the first i made, still has a return in the middle of a pd lock, which only will trigger if 1=2if you really want a good demonstration of all the colors continuum can handle, ?find cheese and go there, have a 2v2 and watch round end spam, then type ?hangar Quote
Unix Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Having the ability to turn off leech money or even set a ceiling so that it only gives out certain amounts would probably greatly help. Quote

Corey Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Spid remember when I used to bother you for pink text? Well... PINK TEXT! Quote
spittnacid Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 Spid remember when I used to bother you for pink text? Well... PINK TEXT!yes pink would be nice. I love pink, I wish I could wear it without being called a bender. Quote
Unix Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 I know it's set at specific number, but I meant to be able to customize it yourself so you dont see messages of your own choosing. Player A might want to set it at 50, but player B might want to set it at 100. Quote
Dr Brain Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 Wouldn't be terribly difficult to change ?killmessages to take a minimum notification parameter. All the rest of the logic is already present, and right now it switches between $20 and -1 (i.e. disabled). Quote
Psythe Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 Fuschia was a nice addition, and pink is a thing too, right? I think there is even white, but not sure that it can be sent to chat. It's just interesting, I don't see why we SHOULDN'T be using all the colors just because we can. http://imgur.com/MZlpWbZ Quote
Cheese Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 pink is fuschchsia, which brain cant even spell himselfwhich is why we changed it to pink and yes, there is a grey, which is more grey than pub chat in game, but is identical to pink while alt tabbedfor some reason, the bottom color on that image isnt used at all, and cant be used Quote

[edit: f1 pink text, too]). While it's weird that white can be used but appear pink in the chat window, it still makes it "special", and there's probably some way to make that "bug" make sense. Or maybe not. Edited January 19, 2013 by Psythe Quote
Cheese Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 ooo so thats where pink is it might also be in f1 as well i recall going from 0-256 in the chat types, and i dont think the chat packet supports more bits, but if the pink is indeed used in the settings, there should be some way to activate it in chat Quote
spittnacid Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 (edited) What about magenta, its a pretty color. Maybe in the new client you are all building you can assign colors client side like in irc clients Edited January 20, 2013 by spittnacid Quote
Cheese Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 my client will be able to support 256 colors, and my intent is to allow a chat(r,g,b,msg)protocol limitation is 256, can make rgb with a new packet, but it wont work with subgame Quote
Samapico Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 256 types, not 256 colors... A team message, for example, will prepend "PlayerName >" to the actual message. While you could have another message type that prints out yellow without prepending the player name. A freq message ("...) prints out the player's name in green, and the message in blue. But yeah... with 256 types, you can do a bunch of stuff... (I am assuming a few things here, correct me if I'm wrong) Edit: Also, biller messages are probably a type? Leaves 255 to play with I guess Quote
Cheese Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 basically id still rather allow a 256x256x256 Quote
spittnacid Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 Does the client rerender in 256 or do sprites and color have to be in 256? Quote
