Subspace Contiuum in Russian

Hi.  This is Turbotron and website owner www.SochiComputer.RU.

 

Basically I've been playing this game since 2004 and want to help and spread the word.  My target audience is Russia, in particular city of Sochi, 2014 olympic games.  I want to write about SS in my blog's recommended section www.SochiComputer.RU/blog

 

and also create a site in Russian specifically for this game with forums and no ads.  I want a site in cyrilic domain name space .РФ

 

I need programmers to translate the program to Russian.  Give me a list of words to translate and I'll translate it.  Then you just compile the program and offer it for download.

 

Come on help me with this a little bit, and we'll have some new players.

No one can recompile the game, unfortunately. I also don't think it supports Cyrillic letters, though I could be wrong.

From my knowledge of Visual C++ I can say that there is a resource file that can be edited for a particular language.  Within itself this .RES file has all the menu names, etc.  That can be edited. 

 

Can't the programmer of Conituum, the guy with source, modify the .RES file and recompile it?  I'm not asking to make the chat in continuum in Russian, just the program menus, and buttons PLAY and QUIT.  Maximum this is a 20 minute job.

 

 

Sure I can make the site, but to make people play it will be hard.

For the purposes of discussion, the programmer of Continuum is dead. The truth is somewhat more complicated, but comes to the same thing.

 

That said, it's probably possible to hack the main menu (though this is beyond my skill). But nothing after you press the play button.

Why not create a new skin in russian first. http://continuumskins.s5.com/tutorial.html

 

If that goes well you can use this application http://www.resedit.net to edit menu040.dll

 

Send me a copy after you've editted it and I can try preparing it to work with Continuum. (worth just translating one bit to test first, in case it doesn't work)

 

I don't think it will be possible to translate all of it but some would be better than none?

Not only is the programmer "dead", but he went down with all the source code, so even all the mighty Visual C++ knowledge in the world wouldn't allow us to change the in-game texts... but yeah, a skin is easy enough

You might do some stuff with ResHack (Resource Hack) http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/rh_shot.html it lets you edit the Windows Dialogs and stuff other stuff could be edited like the Tips.dat not much else you can do afaik

Use all those lvz to add Russian pics over-top of the info you want

change the fonts to show Russian letters and type away.

then just run a Russian server and zone and i'm sure you can enjoy it.

 

Help Menu can be changed.

Are you still trying to do anything with this?

 

The Russian skin would of course go along way.  If you did create one i'd love to download it.

After all everything you see in the game is a picture of letter so thats not that hard to change.

 

I could make it in the natural Klingon in which it was written.
