Now that Polix is gone, is there any chance of getting zones added to the biller?

 

Not just zones, but servers.

 

I would like to resubmit my server for approval.

(This should answer your in-game question, and explain the state of PB and other zones to anyone who's wondering)

 

There are 2 parts to getting access to the SSC biller.

 

1) Adding a rule to the ssc machine's firewall to allow traffic from an IP

2) Getting login id ("slot") so the zone can login to the biller program itself

 

My understanding is that only PriitK can do (1). When powerball knew we were moving we asked for (1) on our new machine sometime in Aug. or Sept. PriitK has not done it, nor, afaik, acknowledged the request. I guess we haven't checked in the last couple weeks though. So, it's unclear whether any new machine will ever get (1).

 

(2) is relatively easy. Any existing approved server can ask for a new zone slot.

 

In the process of changing machines, I created some iptables forwarding rules so that we could route biller traffic through our old machine that already had (1). This allows all SSC billing functionality, but because the client and biller don't see the same IP for the server, the client sends passwords plaintext to the server and you get the GUI warning box. It was meant to be temporary for testing, but because priitk never replied, we (with permission from ghost/polix) set up the same rules on HZ's machine, so now we forward our billing traffic through them. We host SSCX Devastation, which does the same thing, and I was recently asked to set up TW's asss Dev zone with the same trick on their amazon vps.

 

Due to the password issue, I don't think new hosts would be permitted to do this.

On another note, SSC and all their little guide lines and policies are a joke. It's a group of people put in power to do whats best for the game, yet it has turned into a group of people with power that do what ever they feel like regardless of what is best for the game. You honestly think that blocking specific zones even on approved servers from connection to the Central Database all these years was, and still is a good idea? It never was, and never will be.

 

Banning people for years at a time, that seems like a really smart idea also. Congratulations on everything you've done here.

Resol, sorry to be critical but i hate hypocrisy. You ban people all the time from your zones, i can give numerous examples, where you banned people from Devastation, a zone that wasn't even yours. And Tm master had to remove your powers because you proceeded to ban him, totally disrespecting his zone.. Like-wise, you banned blu- from Tri-sector, so on and so on. Maybe now you get a sense of what it's like to be banned for no real reason other than, people can ban you, and don't like you. (even though it's a 'ban' on your zone request)

 

In that respect you act no differently, you deny people from your zone based on the same personal motivations with which people deny your server access.

 

You have proven to be unstable. Not rational, not level-headed, shifting in attitudes, and in your own way perhaps not in forums, but in game you've been just as much as a troll as those you condemn. Many times i saw you trying to troll Tm_master, calling him a Pedophile in his own zone chat. Beyond this you use your sense of knowledge of the game over others as some sort of justification of your superiority over them. Something Polix doesn't do, generally SSC tries to respect everyone.

 

This doesn't mean you should be judged, perhaps everyone deserves at least one chance.

 

But at best if your statements are true about SSC, it makes you quite the hypocrite. i make no excuses for SSC, many who run zones, are apart of zones, resorted to the same tactics of banning people, some hide behind pretty rules, others like Brain are at least honest enough to say "what i say goes, because it's my time, and my zone." And as i understood in the past there were little wars, which Death+ could tell stories about around a camp fire. Wars where the current people in charge crossed a boundary on occasion, shut down zones, abused powers, and were generally pretty much immature. But i suspect most of SSC has grown up by now.

 

For whatever statements i make about others, i tend not to do the same thing as them, in that sense i am different and my claims carry more weight.

 

Though i guess one can read my letter a different way. In that perhaps you belong on SSC, because there is not much difference between you and them.

First of all, the only person I banned from Devastation was Lone Outlaw, aka Avast, aka Falconeer. He was net banned, and tm_master had him on ban free, tm said he didn't know why I wanted to ban him, and it was because of his constant troll of not only me, but others across the game.

 

I banned blu because I'm pretty sure that is also Falconeer.

 

I never banned cheese, I switched his freq so he wouldn't be awarded the jackpot points at the end of a game. Why? Because he refused to stay on one team, and was switching to which ever team was winning, and when asked to stop he said "make me".

 

Banning people from a single zone is not banning people from an entire game. If I don't want you in my zone, that's just the way it is, if you don't like, sorry.

 

To further explain the tm_master situation:

 

I told him if he wanted me to be staff in his zone, then I wanted to have a say. And the one thing I wanted was for Falconeer to be banned for the reasons I already mentioned. I said if I had the power to ban him, I would. And if he didn't like that, then he should remove me from staff. He said he would not remove me from staff, but he would keep lifting my bans on Falconeer, so I put it simply to him, I said, either remove me from staff so I can't ban Falconeer, or I will remove him from staff so he can't lift the ban I had placed.

 

With that said, I am no longer staff in devastation, and falconeer can come and go as he wishes.

 

Cheese, I would ban you from my zone or silence you at the least, because you are non-stop negatively speaking to everyone. And that's not something I would put up with, you have an ego and tend to be a complete prick to anyone that doesn't worship you. It's is 100% my choice how I choose to run my zone.

 

I would love to here the "numerous examples" of people I banned from devastation.

Your whole post kind of speaks for itself, and displays the maturity of someone who deserves biller access.

 

There was someone else you didn't like besides Falconeer. Forget there name, but you wanted to ban them from Devastation too. Not sure if you went through with it. As well i think JDS doesn't like you for some reason. Maybe you banned him?

 

You realize when you banned Falconeer he was not netbanned from anywhere. The netban came in place afterwards. Your facts are skewed or you are lying.

 

However when falconeer was netbanned by Polix, tm_master would often lift the ban. Tm_master obviously saw some value to having falconeer there or he would have banned falc himself. Why is it your judgement has value over others? Especially when the 'others', is the zone owner? You say to respect what a zone owner wants to do with the players in their zone. (in your case ban them) yet you didn't respect tm_master. You are clearly hypocritical.

 

Blu- is not falconeer.

 

And you haven't witnessed constant trolling (all day), if you flip from one or two in game messages you are clearly unstable. Falc was afk when you banned him because he was at school, and because tm requested that he stay there to add to the population. There was no trolling. Though there was definitely trolling afterward. When you banned falc a second time. You just saw a troll and thought it would be fun to ban them, since you thought you could justify the ban. Similar to a nazi seeing a jew, and thinking it will be fun to kill them, because they can justify it.
