Map Editing - Hosting a personal game

Is it possible for me to host my own zone on my personal computer to test maps I create, anyone know?

So I got a zone going which helped me finish a map--but I wanted to try and edit the "greens" so that, like on the Halloween map, the "greens" have a new icon. On the Halloween map they were pumpkins, and I was hoping to make them "presents".

 

Also, any idea how to make it so when holding a flag, a ships abilities are increased, i.e. stronger guns, bombs?

Editing graphics will require you to build .lvz files... If you search around these forums or at minegoboom you'll find plenty of info on how to make them.

As for settings, you'll have to figure out how to edit them, either through editing server.cfg, or esc-c ingame... I also recommend opening the "template.sss" file you got with subgame, open it with notepad or whatever. It contains the list of all settings, with a description. So when looking for something in particular, a quick 'search' in that file usually points you to the right place.

Reading is for noobs, real pros become dev, get their own arena, and crash servers. Then they say sorry, didn't know not to change that setting to that..

 

DSB already has LVZ present greens, i could give you there's. i think i have it saved.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS keep backups of last good versions of files.

 

Messing with the settings for instance can cause a zone to crash, or even prevent it starting and often pinning the exact commit down is a pain! do things bit by bit and always have backups to hand and you wont bang your head into the screen too much.
