No_Remorse Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 It would be cool to have a thread full of historic Subspace pictures, old subspace webpages(archives?), things that remind you of when you first played this game. Preferably don't chime in if you started playing recently. <_< Also, just to clarify, don't post your life story, how or why you started playing this game, or your mother's maiden name. Only Subspace related nostalgia(VIE nostalgia encouraged)!!! Just ran across this picture that takes me way back. This picture should be familiar to you if you started playing a really long time ago. Women are like Elephants. I like to watch them, but I wouldn't want to own one.

Camel Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 Here's a screenshot taken in Chaos Zone moments before VIE shutdown their servers (December 16, 1998).
No_Remorse Posted November 7, 2012 Author Report Posted November 7, 2012 Awesome pic! I was looking for myself in there lol. J12 wars were what got me hooked on this game! And since I can't seem to find much, I'll just list some old Subspace websites that I remember: -VIE's subspace website (I can't remember the url or find a screenshot of this anymore)-subspace.ds98.com-subspace.warstrike.com-einexile's minefield (always appreciated this guys map making abilities along with earlier members of the Subspace MMG)-subspacezone.net-subspacehq.com (good times)-possum's zoner-subspace.ogaming.com Thankfully we still have this website considering how many we used to have. Women are like Elephants. I like to watch them, but I wouldn't want to own one.

Bargeld Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) My archive of this stuff is so huge, it would stop the internet in it's tracks. But since no one has even remembered alpha through all this, I will refrain from posting any of it. Edited November 13, 2012 by Bargeld Sysop - SSCX Alpha West SVS
Lone Outlaw Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 i remember most Old zones, posting screens will jog my memory.. Specifically remember in detail Chaos zone, and Dueling Arizona, 17th Parallel, and a few others which name escapes me at the moment. Testtube Posted November 15, 2012 Report Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) So many memories. I have introduced many people to this game but one of the people i am most proud of getting hooked is prob. DoCk Also known as docklynez I had sysop access in TW at the time and made him staff. And then he shot off like a cannon after that. Here is a interesting article we have of Dock which brings back memories for me anywayshttp://ssdownloads.c...rviews/dock.txt I havent spoken to my old friend in awhile i hope that life is treating him well! T20 was one of my favorite places in alpha, jopa <=> was my name there. Back when there was only 4 ships to choose from and you started with no bounty. Green for your team!
Rude Awakening Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 Holy cow this game still exists! I thought all the websites would have been long gone by now! lol. Most of my favorite sites have already been mentioned....with the exception of nmebase. Good to see you around NR, how ya been?
Rude Awakening Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 I became hooked because of SnS and all the events in SCF, which for some reason I decided to start running the events in the middle of my senior year of high school (dumb dumb dumb). Favorite non SVS zones were 1st Strike, 17th Parallel, Stealth Zone, and EG.
No_Remorse Posted January 7, 2013 Author Report Posted January 7, 2013 Ya, it's still alive, barely lol... As you can probably tell by the activity in this forum. It's good to hear from you RA, it's been a long time. I remember how much you liked Saturday Night Slayfest, didn't you end up running your own similar event? It feels like a life time ago, over 10 years anyway lol. 1stStrike zone was good times, especially since I was sysop until I got axed for creating my own zone lol. Miss everyone from back in the day. I hope you are all doing good for yourselves! Women are like Elephants. I like to watch them, but I wouldn't want to own one.
VIC20Kid Posted January 8, 2013 Report Posted January 8, 2013 Wow, I'm surprised there is some semblance of a comunity still in existence. Well in that case: VIC20Kid of T3 The Gauntlet! reporting in. I know my server is as good as dead, but hey, I still have a screencap from a few years back. Sadly, I don't have any that go back to when I first played back in '03.
Jetsam Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 I miss Warzone. After all the years, countless new, fancy games, I still miss this old 2D one.

★ jabjabjab Posted February 16, 2013 Report Posted February 16, 2013 So then a question comes to mind: Why C:/Program Files/* ? Worst Idea ever.. (Well it's really MicroSoft's problem but still ya get what I mean) Fusha> Don't fight the gravityFusha> Make the gravityFusha> Your friendFusha> Bounce
Cheese Posted February 16, 2013 Report Posted February 16, 2013 Almost forgot.. for those that don't know me, I wrote the installation for Continuum. if you did write the installation portion, would you care to tell the people writing new clients how you did it, and perhaps make the files/procedures available to them?
