Dr Brain Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 Replace warp flash graphics by a blanked out lvz to make it possible to 'cleanly' use selfpos w/ warpflash (which reduces strange jitter, twitching and whatnot when accelerating or warping players). Might have to write a new module which plays the old warp flash as an lvz at certain moments. Might not be necessary, if nobody misses the flash. This should be quite easy, since the incoming packet's warpflash will tell you when to plop down an LVZ image. Hardest part is managing the LVZ images, and you can get code to do that from the FTL modules. Freedom is the right to be wrong.
Cheese Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 alternative:use moveto module instead, which doesnt use warp gfx at all SSC Distension OwnerSSCU Trench Wars Developer3:JabJabJab> sometimes i feel like when im in this mood im like a productive form of CheeseDr Brain> Pretty much everything you said was wrong. spidernl Posted January 12, 2013 Author Report Posted January 12, 2013 Do tell. I've noticed that not using the warp flash has a tendency to make other clients go "oh no you didn't" and show the player jittering back and forth between the "last known location" and where you tell them the player is. Setting the warp status bit greatly reduces this. http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk74/lera_ss/Signatures/Spider1.jpg
