Lone Outlaw Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) They are asking for a 10,000$ pledge. Sure there is the 10$ option, but really? i don't even want to buy their game for 1$ or play it for free for 5 years, when i see them raking in 10k from rich people. What nut would spend 10k on a game. Further a game not even programed in alpha or beta yet. Like reserving a damn spot for 10k. That's just wrong. And further this is a crime if you know anything about sociology! and critical theory! This game is the epitome of capitalism and all that's wrong with the world.. As far as the game goes, it looks good. Though im sure i could make a better game (in theory) or (on paper) any day =p If it relates to EVE online, then its probably a horrible game, though. i'd have to watch more videos.. »Xog Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) Lone Outlaw I should have you hanged. You know NOTHING of this guy! He INVENTED this genre! And he's BAACKKK!!!! Also, this has NOTHING to do with EVE. EVE is not a good space simulator. Doesn't even offer free flight! I have my golden ticket from when I signed up a couple months ago. Oh.. and someone purchased the $10,000 pledge. For those of you who like these types of games, here's a clip of me in Jumpgate a while back. A pirate, -DT- told me to give him money or die ^_^ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6PvxbB66AE Edited October 15, 2012 by Xog Quote

If someone, or an organization, wants to support him, they can. Do you know the Humble Indie Bundle packages? You could pay whatever you want to get like 5 indie games. You could pay 0$. You could pay 10000$. Take a look:http://support.humblebundle.com/customer/portal/articles/281031-prior-bundle-statisticsNotch, the guy behind Minecraft, donated like 10000$ on each of the bundles. Is that the epitome of capitalism? It's a donation, that's just how it works. Quote

Lone Outlaw Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) Jeez my PC is 4-6 years old, and beats that on every level except the Processor, sadly i only have a 6 core, 1100T.My ram is faster, and i have 16gigs, ATI 2 gig graphic card (probably the same quality as yours), 2 Terebytes ram, and A Solid State Drive for my OS, Xonar Essence ST sound card.. Blueray player, etc. To bad i will never pay monthly for a game, and all games that ask for monthly payments have proven to never be worth it, since Ultima Online died in 1999. =/ I was blessed by playing the best of Mmporgs, and nothing since has compared or even come close to that experience. EVE online made me sick. WOW is crap, even runescape is better than WOW. Dungeon and Dragons online is okay, mainly because it's free, but the experience stops at level 20, and its rather linear.. Darkfall was a failure. Old Republic is endless questing, which i can do in single player, no reason i should pay for multiplayer. And blah di blah di blah. Waste of a life if your playing these. Honestly i'd sell that PC on ebay, maybe get 2000$ and buy a better one. Edited January 16, 2013 by Lone Outlaw Quote
»gallitin Posted January 17, 2013 Author Report Posted January 17, 2013 1. Your 6 year old ram and video card are in no way comparable to today's technology. You don't have 2 terabytes of ram.2. It's not a monthly subscription game. Quote

Lone Outlaw Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) Oh woops, i meant 2 terabytes of hard drive space. Anyway, my ram is better, its clocked faster, etc. Actually if you knew anything about computers, ram hasn't changed much. Your ram is likely, 9-9-9-24, while mine is 8-8-8-23, or something, i need to find the packaging.. plus there are higher versions than 1600mhz. Processors and Graphic cards change the most. You could have said you can't have a 2 gigbyte, 4 year old graphic card, as i don't think 4-6 years ago they were making those yet. But see you aren't the sharpest tool in the shed.. The graphic card is new, i upgrade it every 4 years, just got a new one at christmas. Well if i get the game for free, i'll play it. But if it's not monthly subscription what is it? Pay for items/store game? Or one time purchase of 60 to 120$... Yearly subscription? the only cool thing you got was the Joystick. Intel Core i7-3820 @ 3.60GHz 9,162 $288.49AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core 9,120 $193.79 AMD wins once again. Half the price and likely a better processor with only 38 points in difference. noldec Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 How is your pc 4-6 years old? if:You have a brandnew graphics cardCPU from late 2010a SSD (they came out like what 2010-2011?)2 terabytes of hard drive space16 gb of ram @Gallitin Did it come with a CPU cooler? Quote
Lone Outlaw Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) Solid state drives have been around since the 1950's. You think any technology is new? SSD's (for our intended use) i think came out in 2007, and were halfway decent by 2009/2010.But your right i just checked and my PC is from 2009 Christmas. It has a 2 year old CPU, and a 2 month old Graphic card. How is 2 terabytes of Hard drive space inconceivable? That existed since 2006.. or something. (i have 2 external 1 terabyte drives)If anyone wants to find the history of RAM, that would be nice, but Ram wasn't DDR3 on AMD motherboard for awhile. Probably until 2006, after that the motherboards of AMD caught up with the RAM. Not sure when they started making 4 GIG sticks, probably in 2010.. True, i am guilty of exaggeration, and posting based on bad memory, because i'm lazy to look up when i bought my computer. My timeline is a bit skewed as well, as i am not really apart of this world or society, and don't care much for time, no schedules to keep, no appointments, not living by the clock. i don't often keep details which can be looked up. a victim of the google generation. And i like to make accusations, so someone can post and tell me i am wrong. It's the quickest way to the truth. i don't actually believe what i say. For example i didn't actually think this game was pay by month, but i made the accusation, to see if anyone would confirm it, or deny it. As i was lazy to look on the website. So thanks. To my credit, i believe people, and take them at their word until they prove to be liars. So Gallatin saying the game is not pay by month, is sufficient enough for me. Basically i upgraded this PC so much, and transferred old components to other PC's that i couldn't really keep track of what was from when. But nothing is less than 2 years old except the graphic card. So i can still say, 2 year old PC, with some 4 year old parts, AND it's still up to PAR with your NEW pc. spidernl Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) Solid state drives have been around since the 1950's. You think any technology is new? Very impressive bit of Wikipedia-mining. However, anyone sane will tell you that today's SSDs are in no way the same as those back then. SSDs worth getting for consumers are a recent development. In fact, I'm still tempted to go with a HDD (hardware) RAID setup over a few SSDs. Both are fast enough for my purposes, and RAID stores my data much more safely than an equally priced non-RAID SSD setup. Edited January 17, 2013 by spidernl Quote
Dr Brain Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 I've added Lone Outlaw to my ignore list after that outrageous post. He'll probably just change accounts (again), but at least then I'll feel justified in banning him. Spider, SSDs aren't about the read and write times, they're about the random access times. On a mechanical drive, this is around 10ms, and is a function of the platter rotational velocity (i.e. it won't be less next year). The best RAID could do is split this in half, but in reality it's probably unaffected (I don't think RAID chooses the drive based on current platter position). It's amazing what a difference SSDs make in the day to day operation of a computer (how often do you just move 10 GB files around, after all?). True you can't store as much on them, but 120 GB is more than enough for the OS and any non-game programs. Keep a second drive for games and any media files. And about the safety of the drive, a cloud backup program is a good solution (and not just for HD failures). I use Crashplan's family offering and am quite happy with it. If you've got access to a few different computers you can spread your files out even more (for free even). Quote

Lone Outlaw Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) Funny how he thinks i changed names to avoid a real or fake ignore or something. It's your choice to remain blissfully ignorant, often a choice most people make in society. Be proud. Also RAID depends on your use, but Brain pretty much covered why SSD is better. And i think you can RAID 10 SSD's together or something.. Edited January 17, 2013 by Lone Outlaw Quote
