Vidiot_X Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 ** New Client A.88_F Note: Be sure to report bugs so I can fix'em Hi, I have uploaded the new Phoenix SS client here:http://www.phoenix.subspace.co/phoenixss_client_a88_F.zip Check this thread for the servers current IP and status.http://www.subspace....-ip-and-status/ This is my first test of the new client and server so lets hope it goes well. If there are any problems I will fix them and re-upload a new client. Thanks for testing. There is a player limit of 20 so if the servers full try again. * Important! *==========Make sure that you can send and receive data through port '12345' . If your you are using Windows 7 and it ask you if want to allow Phoenix access to the internet make sure you enable "Public Networks'. Windows does not default to this option. If you can't log on, odds are access to the port is the problem. To play, unzip and run phoenixss_client_a88.exe . Then enter your name and hit enter. Vidiot_X Posted October 8, 2012 Author Report Posted October 8, 2012 I see a few trying to log in but can't.. Make sure you have port 12345 open for inbound and outbound traffic through the firewall. Quote
Vidiot_X Posted October 8, 2012 Author Report Posted October 8, 2012 We saw you there.. That usually means your port setup is wrong. Make sure both inbound and outbound traffic available on port 12345 Quote
Vidiot_X Posted October 8, 2012 Author Report Posted October 8, 2012 So cool. I finally got to play this game a bit, it's working. Quote
Vidiot_X Posted October 8, 2012 Author Report Posted October 8, 2012 If you have any trouble logging on be sure to check your firewall rules (under the advance settings in C-Panel Win7 firewall). You will need to make sure you have an inbound rule and an outbound rule for Phoenix. Also, make sure that you can send and receive data through port '12345' . If your you are using Windows 7 and it ask you if want to allow Phoenix access to the internet make sure you enable "Public Networks'. Windows does not default to this option. If you can't log on, odds are access to the port is the problem. To chat, type 'T' or 'F9', enter text and then hit return. Hit insert to warp to safe/start point and use the number-pad '+' and '-' keys to zoom in and out. Either control key will fire lasers. I also forgot to mention that there is a 'Tile Image Background' on the set up dialog box. Selecting it on will use a scrolling tiled image background instead of the static single image background. JoWie Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 Do you have to configure NAT? If so, maybe you could look at UDP hole punching. Quote
Vidiot_X Posted October 8, 2012 Author Report Posted October 8, 2012 Hi JoWie, Good idea. I was using something just like hole punching (virtual server) but had it setup TCP/UDP . I tried putting the server on a different system and I could not log in. So I changed it to just UDP and it's working good now. So if you had a problem logging in please try it again. It should let you log on now. Thanks,- Rich - Quote
»gallitin Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 Able to login, but a lot of issues with the display for me at first. After I chose windowed mode and seemed to work just fine. When I had issues I was trying to open the game @ 1920,1080,32 60Hz with the DirectX 10/11. Quote
Vidiot_X Posted October 8, 2012 Author Report Posted October 8, 2012 Thank you Gallitan. I am updating the DX10/11 driver and that should fix the problem. I was using an older copy of DX10/11 library. EDIT - Found the problem. The background image is only being scaled to 1366 x 768. I'll have a new client up tonight but you can us the tile image background option in the setup dialog box (check it on) or use a resolution of 1366 x 768 or less. - Rich - Quote
Vidiot_X Posted October 9, 2012 Author Report Posted October 9, 2012 New client available here (or top thread link): http://www.phoenix.s...lient_a88_B.zip Fixed background scale image not scaling to display resolution.Fixed actor on client not being removed.Fixed distribute actor quit to all clients.Fixed distribute client quit when client drops offline.Fixed client not acknowledging server lost.Fixed log in throttle overloading server.Fixed client timeout if no server data.Fixed user hitting escape to exit help and then exiting game. Added client ping and actor recording/reporting systemAdded under name player (actor) on screen ping Updated DX10/11 library. I have also put my server hardware into the router 'DMZ' which bypasses the router firewall entirely. This should hopefully solve any log in problems. I'll be working on collision bugs and more networking tomorrow. Thanks for testing. - Rich - Quote
Lone Outlaw Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) Is it up? I get no connection, and client temporarily says (not responding) before it asks me to input ip again. This is what i get when i use tile background image.Running in windowed mode 1024x768 (however i had no problem last time i did this), except tile background image was not selected.I have a direct x11 card, pretty much top of the line computer. 8 gigs of ram, 6 core processor. http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/5289/cool4.pnghttp://img37.imageshack.us/img37/731/cool5.pnghttp://img407.imageshack.us/img407/7374/cool6.png Honestly it makes the actual 'space' (stars etc), LOOK damn wicked.. way better than when it's working.. if you can keep the distortion on the space, and remove the distortion from the asteroids, walls, ship, and bullets, it would be pretty cool.. Does this in full screen 1600x900 with tile background selected. However fullscreen is not exactly full screen. It basically becomes windowed mode (without the window edges) and shows part of my desktop. I'll just take another screenshot. I can remove previous screenshots upon request. This is 1440x900 (it was fullscreen when it asked me to select client or server, option 1 or 2, when i selected option 2 server, the full screen changed to this)http://imageshack.us/a/img202/5716/fullscreenh.png The Exit button on the options menu, where you select resolution, and graphics, WORKS.However the exit button top right corner in the shape of a square, doesn't work. (suspect you disabled it?) My graphic card is ATI Radeon™ HD 5870 Graphics Going to reinstall driver, and see if it fixes it. Edited October 9, 2012 by Lone Outlaw Quote
Vidiot_X Posted October 9, 2012 Author Report Posted October 9, 2012 Hi Lone Outlaw, Thanks for posting images. New IP address over night so you can get online now. OK, you can try the previous version of this client ( http://www.phoenix.s..._client_a88.zip ) and see if you get the same problems. I updated the DX10/11 library so that may be a problem. trying the previous client version would let me know if its my DX10/11 library that is the problem or not. You can also change the "bg5.jpg" image in the root Phoenix directory and see if that helps. The image is 512x512. EDIT: Try replacing the 'Bg5.jpg' with this one: http://www.phoenix.subspace.co/bg5.jpg EDIT: this is what is should look like with the above new 'bg5.jpg' image:http://www.phoenix.subspace.co/screenshot_bg5.png Quote
Lone Outlaw Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) On the previous version i still get the problem. Reinstalling my graphic driver didn't work. What would i change the bg5.jpg to? It's not just the stars that get distorted, its everything. And its direction based. if i fly forward all things on screen, seem to leak color in that direction. If i fly backwards same thing. Still might be a graphic problem on my end, because cataylst control center won't open. So i will fix it first, and let you know once its fixed if phoenix still has the same problem. edit: working on it, as stated previously a88 had the same problem.going to replace BG soon and see if it works, also in process of reinstalling graphics driver again. Vidiot_X Posted October 9, 2012 Author Report Posted October 9, 2012 Right oh. You can also try a different graphic driver in the Phoenix setup. Maybe OpenGL or DX9. Quote
Vidiot_X Posted October 9, 2012 Author Report Posted October 9, 2012 Aside from Lone Outlaw's issue I'll be working on an automatic IP address updater. Maybe a 'PHP' page or something in Phoenix to make IP address updates automatic and easy. Also if you have a DX10/11 video card please let me know if it is working for you. Thanks. Quote
Lone Outlaw Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) Yep keep in mind i only have this problem when using tile background option. Otherwise everything is good. How about the top right exit button? And the fullscreen not being full screen? Are those also problems or were they intended? EDITSo the install went good, Catalyst Control Center opens now, the driver is 100% functional, going to check again if i have same problem. if problem persists, i'll switch to directx9 or OpenGL. Then lastly i'll change the BG. EDIT 2Same problem. Trying OpenGL and Directx9 now. EDIT3Same problem on DX9, trying openGL now.. EDIT4Same problem on OpenGL, no changes, going to change BG now. EDIT5Changing the BG fixed the problem somewhat, but i still have the issue with the wall colors bleeding into the map... circled it. As you can see the wall bleeds in the direction i am flying. http://imageshack.us/a/img812/2193/sameproblem.png BTW i really think the old BG looks wicked with this distortion, if only the ship/walls/guns didn't get distorted. It appears as if the stars are actually sparkling.. etc or like you are flying inside a real nebula. EDIT 6Bullets still getting distorted, it's just all happening behind the new BG..http://imageshack.us/a/img13/1738/bulletdistortions.png Edited October 9, 2012 by Lone Outlaw Quote
Vidiot_X Posted October 9, 2012 Author Report Posted October 9, 2012 How about the top right exit button? I'll fix it. And the fullscreen not being full screen? Are those also problems or were they intended?I accidentally posted posted server enabled Phoenix SS. It's not ready yet so it will be fixed but later. Client only version up now. Quote
Vidiot_X Posted October 9, 2012 Author Report Posted October 9, 2012 Lone Outlaw, Server crash.. sec while I re init. new IP to.. sec Quote
Vidiot_X Posted October 9, 2012 Author Report Posted October 9, 2012 Back up! IP: 72.161.222.80 Mike had a great ping and yours from Canada was excellent. Nice to see player pings. Quote
Lone Outlaw Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 Thanks, but i have to do some school work anyway, can't wait to test more features when they arrive. Quote
Vidiot_X Posted October 9, 2012 Author Report Posted October 9, 2012 @Lone Outlaw, OK, I think I have fixed the time image background problem. This should do it. New Phoenix client here:http://www.phoenix.s...lient_a88_C.zip Give it a try when you can. Thanks;) Quote
Lone Outlaw Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) Nice you fixed it, what was the problem? Another problem is when i move.. the other ships, appear to vibrate as im moving.. ie they are not staying still.. they only stay still when i am staying still. But it gives the appearance more of the ships vibrating, than of me moving.. This is more visible if you focus on the name tag of the player ship. (the words vibrate) And only if the other ship is stand still (not moving) Edited October 9, 2012 by Lone Outlaw Quote
Vidiot_X Posted October 9, 2012 Author Report Posted October 9, 2012 It was me not clearing the screen on tile image background. So I just added a clear screen command and fixed. The other position bug is the server sending an integer instead of a floating point for position. That is also fixed too. Thanks for pointing those bugs out! - Rich - Quote
Vidiot_X Posted October 9, 2012 Author Report Posted October 9, 2012 My mentor in coding just logged on from New Zealand and we were able to play no problem. Hello other side of the world. Quote
