My how things have changed.

10 years ago when we first cracked the idea of a new central forum system to compete with SubSpace Headquarters' ForumHQ this game was on a comeback, web traffic to the sites was insane, and the community was active and involved.

SSForum was a 2am idea (as I use to call them, 5am for rowen) me and rowen came up with. It actually took a few weeks of discussion, talking with CybeRise and other people to decide to pull the trigger. Until that time, SubSpace.net had gone from having their own forums, to having sub-forums on GameAddict's forums, to using SSCentral.com's forums, and then back to their own. SSCentral.com hopped between ForumHQ and their own forums a couple times before landing on keeping their own up and running (using this very same forum script). SubSpaceDownloads.com never really had a forum after SSNet hopped around a few times, and so players lacked a connection to the site.

September 1st, 2002 SSForum.net was launched. It used a pirated copy of vBulletin, was co-admined by Cybe, Rowen, and myself, along with quickly having 100+ active members at any given time.

A lot of ups and downs have happened through the history of the forums from changing to SSCentral's forums after SSNet dissapeared, to becoming the face of the last running general community site.

I'd like to thank everyone and anyone involved over the years, especially the former admins, super moderators, and moderators.

All I got for now.

Note: SSForum.net is expired atm, but going to get it fixed.

has it really been that long?

I started playing in 2003 and remember joining this forum when Hyperspace moved over. Was a buzzing and busy forum then (and very distracting from my studies!)

Long live subspace.co! may it provide distraction from work for the next 10 years :)

It is coming to an end I think. Or atleast my activity in game is/will be. TBH I barely login anymore, which may be part of my issue with keeping things going.

I recently thought I just needed to motivate myself, tried and tried, but failed. But then a buddy of mine needed some help with some stuff for his site/work, and I whipped him out some graphics and simple code in a couple days without issue. So really isn't my lacking, but the lack of drive this community gives to you anymore.

But on a more positive note, with the population bug being gone, can see our population has barely dwindled since before it started. As much as it feels otherwise sometimes.

Well i always used to say if you hate the player demographic.. then you shouldn't be in a position were you have to deal with other people. Maybe in the background as a coder etc.

But if you genuinly like every aspect of the community (even the trolls), and you like the game then motivation would never be a problem.

The biggest issue is always time with most developers. If time isn't as big a problem as motivation. Then maybe you've been in chaos zone too long. Try some new zones, maybe login as a player and not as Polix. Opt for a new perspective/new experience. Make a squad. Try have some fun. You can still like the game while finding it boring (because you are stuck in some sort of routine) There is 1000 players on subspace. Go meet some people. Of course it get's boring if you talk to the same people on ssforums all day. I've been here 13 years, and there is still new people to meet in game. i never get bored. i like meeting new players/helping them. People are the main interest in continuum, as it is a multiplayer oriented game.

Maybe set some goals or challenges for yourself. Ie win some leagues, some competitions. Participate.

Not sure how else you could find motivation.

But i guess quitting is nice to do to rechaging your batteries if you ever decide to come back. Though aside from our disagreements, issues, i couldn't argue that you've done a lot for subspace.

It's been quite a while indeed :p. I remember playing continuum around 2004-2005, writing DCME at the end of 2005. For nostalgia sake I reread the entire first thread in the DCME subforum :), 7 years ago, I almost can't believe it's been this long.

Time really flies once your life creeps past college and starts the normal routine of going to work everyday (which has been 3 years already).

Continuum has been a lot of fun times for me (I mostly played on metal gear and halo maps), I rarely have the time to play games anymore (only weekends mostly) so I don't sink enough time in other games to get involved enough in other communities. The most recent game that made me think of the 'large' (certainly at the time) fast-paced action is Planetside 2, which - at times - feels very much like base rushing / base defending that used to be prominent on the Halo map.

I think everyone in the continuum/subspace community moved on with their lives and there isn't any influx of new people, because let's face it, if you were a teen or 20ish something back then, would you actively play a game that's almost as old or older than you? It's somewhat sad that there was never a decent successor to the game, where the entire community could migrate to, so you'd still be able to play with the people you know.

Also this being the 2nd topic and almost over a week old in General does speak for itself about the Continuum related activity :p
