No_Remorse Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 I can't seem to get Continuum to start up after having a virus attack yesterday. The virus seems to be successfully removed but it hid all my files on me and some other stupid things. Now when I click on the Continuum startup icon, nothing happens. Anyone ever heard of this, or have any clue how I can get up and running again? Women are like Elephants. I like to watch them, but I wouldn't want to own one.
★ Dav Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 What have you tried so far? A fresh install is probably the best bet. SSCC Desert Storm OwnerSSforum Admin
No_Remorse Posted August 20, 2012 Author Report Posted August 20, 2012 I did several times. Still nothing... Is there another installer other than the one on this site(if that would even help)? Women are like Elephants. I like to watch them, but I wouldn't want to own one.
🜲 PoLiX Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 have you tried downloading the zip and just extracting it somewhere and running that? SSForum.net - September 01, 2002 - Rowen (SSDownloads.Com), PoLiX (SSCentral.Com), and Cyberise (Subspace.Net)
No_Remorse Posted August 21, 2012 Author Report Posted August 21, 2012 I just tried downloading the zip and installing it that way and it's still the same. Nothing appears to be happening when i double click Continuum.exe... Here are some things I've tried: -Re-Install several times-Tried to run in Sandboxie-Made an allowance for Continuum.exe in Data Execution Prevention-Tried running as a different user And most likely a couple other things I'm forgetting at the moment.. I have no clue what to try next. Women are like Elephants. I like to watch them, but I wouldn't want to own one.
★ ZiGNoTZaG Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 If your running some form of AV, perhaps its autoprotect has now labeled the continuum executable as harmful and wont let it execute. Some AV packages will only warn you the first time that they block something, then they get added to a list to be blocked always without any interaction from you. http://www.zignotzag.net/images/subspace/vector/VectorWhat.png Vector What? No_Remorse Posted August 22, 2012 Author Report Posted August 22, 2012 I made Continuum as an exception in my AV and still no dice... If anyone has a link to any FAQs about reasons why Cont. won't start, please post them. Women are like Elephants. I like to watch them, but I wouldn't want to own one.
★ ZiGNoTZaG Posted August 22, 2012 Report Posted August 22, 2012 You might also want to try going into YOU'RE system registry and remove all the continuum entries from the CURRENT_USER branch. Then reinstall again. Don't poke around in the reg unless YOUR comfortable doing so. You may also wish to give a reg cleaner like CCleaner a shot. http://www.zignotzag.net/images/subspace/vector/VectorWhat.png Vector What?
