ToxicFume Posted August 5, 2012 Report Posted August 5, 2012 Hello all,I am very new to the forums, and am currently trying to have my own zone on Subspace Continuum. I finally got my zone to show up on the list, and I was super excited. When I try to load it I get a "Information" message saying "Failed to connect to server. Check to make sure server is online (it should appear yellow or green in the zone list) and that you are currently connected to the internet. If problem persists, seek help at tech support forums on www.subspacehq.com" When I load my zone it is originally green, but after I get that message and check, the zone is red. Does anyone have any clue what's going on? Thanks,Gordon~ Quote
PoLiX Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 You need to manually add the zone, you cannot connect to your own IP. Under the "Zones" menu, click "Add Custom..."For Zone put in "Local Zone"For IP Address: put in "127.0.0.1"For Port: put in the zone's portClick "OK" The zone should now be on your list as "Local Zone" and you should be able to connect to it and play. ToxicFume Posted August 6, 2012 Author Report Posted August 6, 2012 Oh, I didn't know that. I did everything you said to do, I am getting the same message. The DOS server is saying "Client connection request from billing server ignored". hmmm... Quote
PoLiX Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 For billing IP in the server.ini set it to localhost Quote
ToxicFume Posted August 6, 2012 Author Report Posted August 6, 2012 Well, that works locally (thanks), and I can use that for testing purposes, but my brother still can't connect from his home. Quote
ToxicFume Posted August 6, 2012 Author Report Posted August 6, 2012 So does anyone have any ideas? Quote
Hakaku Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 For others to be able to connect, you'll need to enable port forwarding (for your zone's port & zone port +1) in your internet router's configurations. Quote
ToxicFume Posted August 6, 2012 Author Report Posted August 6, 2012 Do I keep the billing IP in the server.ini set it to localhost ? Quote
Hakaku Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 If your zone and biller are working correctly and you can connect to them from the same computer, you have nothing else to change in their settings. For others to connect, you need to access your internet router's settings. Quote
ToxicFume Posted August 6, 2012 Author Report Posted August 6, 2012 I have 3 options for port forwarding: Single Port Forwarding | Port Range Forwarding | Port Range Triggering Quote
Cheese Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 you have a linksys wrt54g go with single port forwarding, and forward your zone port and port +1or just dmz the entire computer Quote
