Hey everyone. With all the ship modding options available I thought it might make it easier to have a way of simply selecting items to buy and sell rather than having to type everything. I started working on a separate program that lays on top of the subspace window that allows you to select items from a drop down and button to buy or sell it. The items available can be restricted to a specific hull and $ and exp req are displayed as well. The program has other buttons for ?flag, ?attach and several other common commands if you don't feel like typing.

When I first mentioned this, the 2 main things that were kind of scoffed at were "but you have a window on top that obscures the game". For this the windows transparency can be modified and there is a button to minimize it to a small button you can than click to bring it back when wanted. The second is, "Why would I want to click a bunch of stuff when I already know it all and can just type it in?" Great, but what about people just getting into the game or you just don't want to type so much. This lil program makes the game more manageable, at least for me.

The program currently is almost fully functional. I still have to enter in the rest of the item info into the data file and see if there is a way for it to work in fullscreen mode subspace. Yes, unfortunetly right now the program only works with subspace windowed, but it's a start with only a couple hours of coding thus far.

If you are interested in testing it, please pm me or ask me in ingame. My handle is the same.

Cheers!

Saw a screenshot, no way in hell that's more user friendly than ?buy. It might be for newer players, but then again, how is scrolling through a list of items going to do them any good if they don't know what they do?

yes that screnshot was juat a working design NOT the finished interface. Also there is a iteminfo button to click that sens the command to the game. I was thinking about putting the info in the app to pop up a window or display in a ticker but right now im sticking with the way it is.

Once i finish the data files i am redesigning the interface so you just press Pause/break key ingame to bring up the interface.

After using it the scrolling is not that bad being that the list only shows what is compatible for the hull chosen. I could add an exp filter if i wanted.

When the new interface is done, i'll post screenshots.

another feature i am adding will be extended Function key support that is customizable so you can assign macros to them if you prefer that method and have run out of Fkeys in the client. This would be great to say assign Alt+F1 to ?buy ships, Alt+F2 to ?buy consumables, Alt+F2 to ?buy guns etc etc

arent 3rd party programs against ssc rules or something

Anyone who would even think about this possibly being against the rules is just an idiot.

What a coincidence.

I thought it could be against the rules as well. I know that nothing would be done about it, but there is a chance that someone who doesn't like you could use it against you.

The items are in a separate file so you just need an updated file. As for website if you mean wikipage, thats missing alot of info. I got all the information from ingame. An autoupdate would be nice. There should be in any case a webpage that has accurate updated info, not from me, but from the devs. If its in a format i can easily code a parser to make updates avail with 24hrs or you can do it yourself, This really isnt meant to be some grand project, just something i started for myself and thought id share.

If any of the devs want someone to make a more concise online manual or help maintain wiki, msg me.Theres alot of lacking info on the particulars of every item and what the stat changes mean. Id like to make kind of a ship builder so you can plan out your loadout and know what your pros/cons are and specific stats will be before you spend any $$$. Right now, you basicaly waste money experimenting what works best and with exp and $$$ nerfed in this latest update, it feels like a virtual recession.
