So if anyone remembers my last topic, I was asking how to get the most out of my accord. Well, sadly the most isn't much.

I recently came into some money and want to work on this car, its a 2001 accord.

I was thinking of swapping the engine and tranny out for a h22, and possibly dropping a turbo into it...

Any suggestions?

Estimates on how much it would cost?

I'm good for about $7,000. But I would need a shop to install practically everything, as I don't have the tools necessary for the installation.

Actually passed a car today with ghost flames (didn't even notice the type) doing 50 in a 70. Definately wasn't faster :p

Engine Swap depends on how much you are willing to do yourself, how much you're willing to manfucature yourself, and how much knowledge you have.

Never had a shop do it, but I wouldn't imagine it being cost effective at all. You may not see the results you are hoping for either for the cost. Heck a B18B1 can be turboed up to 7 boost stock, gains great results, and is far cheaper than a swap.

Don't remember what the 2001 Accord had in it, but still I dunno that'd I'd waste my money on an H22 swap if I didn't know enough to do it myself.

Lol add speed holes (airflow), makes anything go faster.. take it from Homer Simpson.. all you need is a pickaxe

though i think it's better to buy a new car, than to ever restore an engine or tranny.. kind of blowing your money.. but i guess if your having fun learning/fixing things, and doing it yourself then in that case it's more like using money for entertainment/learning.

You can buy a crane that will hold engines.. and they aren't too big, and fit in your garage. Probably cost 100-200$. My dad had one when he restored the engine for our van. He took the whole engine out and the crane held it. The crane was no longer than 6 feet. And about the same height.

I was thinking of either an h22 or h23, but the thing is, accords are just too heavy. I need to stick with a v6

I disagree. Just having a 4cyl is going to decrease the wieght of the car enough to make it worth it. The car itself isn't that heavy.

I've read both posts and know quite a bit about cars. Ive owned a few hondas and have done engine swaps myself.

your accord isnt your average/usual honda like a civic,prelude,crx..ect where you usually want to swap a H or B series engine into. the 92-98 accords you can.

honda changed considerably after the year 2000. your car is a good example being a 2000+ v6 version. it's just a different platform and so is the engine.

even though a H or B series is possible(motor monts, computer, wiring), I can go into detal but I'd be here awhile. it's just not a good idea and a huge waste of money.

you should keep your motor, a J series 3.0 (J30) which is a great motor and upgrade it to accomplish what you are going for.

for starters, upgrade the air intake and get a good performing exhaust i.e not just what looks or sounds good but perfoms better though design and quality.

if you're wanting to go even further, buy a comptech supercharger for it and spend that money you saved into a nice suspension and/or wheels.

7g's is more than enough even at a shop. plus you added to the value of your car.

wanna talk crazy? get a J series 6-speed LSD tranny but your talking serious time and money cuz you gotta do auto-to-manual and install the shifer, linkages, clutch pedal, slave/master cylinder blah blah blah no fun and a shop is just going to give you a blank stare.

weight is a ratio to power. the accord is a bigger 4-door sedan than a 2-door coupe and thats why it has the V6 to compensate.

you dont see a v8 muscle car crying "wheres my 4cyl? I'm too heavy!"

the "crane" is called an engine hoist or "cherry-picker" and is used to lift an engine up out of a car using chains.(works awesome for getting g-ma outta bed)

a torque-wrench will be your best friend that allows you to turn a bolt to a certain ft/lbs of torque so a bolt/nut isnt too under/overtightened.

a universal ohm/resistance/continuity meter will help sniff out electrical problems in a wire or connector.

most japanese car manufacturers use metic tools. the most common is the 10-14mm.

buying a new car compared to rebuilding the one you already spent tousands on anyways sounds like a waste of money IMO. the mechanical/electrical knowledge gained also is priceless on its own and can be reapplied to countless car-unrelated issues or machines. once your new car gets old then what?

here is a pic of a J30 accord with a comptech supercharger (polished)

I useto be on honda-tech.com but I dont do hondas anymore.

never thought i'd be giving this kind of advice on a subspace fourm. haha

flames and air vents are cool..... but I say spend some cash and give it a epic Subspace paintjob with like in-game-background stars and random greens and barriers/walls and then a warbird dogfighting a javelin on the hood and a leviathian shooting a bomb from the trunk about to blow them both up. slap bumper sticker that reads " find people from all over the world.... " sickest accord around! I gotta stop before this gets anymore awesome.

1 more, built-in wifi hotspot and laptop for mobile continuum anywhere!
