cxc Posted July 20, 2012 Report Posted July 20, 2012 recently since fields have been nerfed, i have noticed people trans warp thoring. I beleve it to be an abuse where people should get warned by mods to stop. Transwarp thoring:1. trans warp to ammo depot and buy thors2. trans warp to base and launch thors from outside base3. repeat 1 and 2 I beleve this is abuse because there is no defense for it other than mining the trans warp area. antiwarp does not work vs tw. If not abuse i will join the party, maybe make my banner look like a battleship. Quote
Cheese Posted July 20, 2012 Report Posted July 20, 2012 heres the part where the whore comes in and says "no lol thors r fine just use aw" pro tip: the whore changes to the other skilless pd laming ship when people use awmods will never fix either one sry bro Quote
Lone Outlaw Posted July 20, 2012 Report Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) Whining about Lame game play, and asking mods to moderate it.. TLDR VERSION If it wasn't supposed to be allowed it would somehow be limited in settings (ie 60 seconds between firing a thor), or by a bot. That's what bots are for, they are essentially referees, and you can have game play pretty much play out any way you want with a good bot. DSB had a similiar problem. The deathstar had bombing lines and some idiots whined about it on forums saying it's abuse or it's lame, because they would die or wouldn't die, or because it made the game less fun for some people. But in the end any aspect of gameplay can become lame. Less skill, less risks, more lame. What people need to understand is that Lame is not bad. Lame is good for a zone. It actually attracts more players, and conflict or competition isn't necessarily bad either as long as its within the game play and rules. Lame will not only attract more players, it will attract new players. Since most lame tactics are also things noobs would do to get kills easily. This allows people to compete in an elitist environment. Beyond this, a zone shouldn't be about restrictions or policing people. It's up to people how they want to play the game. Who are you to dictate the way i should get kills or fly my ship? If you want to do that you'll find in a few years your zone will fail even FASTER than it should, (according to decline in ss) like DSB eventually did. If i can enter EG and kill people as they escape the NKZ, then you just offered about 20-30 people a new way to play the game. If you take that away, you potentially lose 20-30 people who liked to play the game that way. Similarly if you take away the bases in EG, you lose people who like to base. And if you take away bombs in EG, you lose people who like to bomb. And so on. TSDR VERSION grow up. Edited July 20, 2012 by Lone Outlaw Quote
Cheese Posted July 20, 2012 Report Posted July 20, 2012 you are an idiot and noone cares about dsb, dumbass Quote
P Nut Posted July 20, 2012 Report Posted July 20, 2012 Does this Lone Outlaw idiot even play HS? Does he have any idea what balance means? When something is broken, it needs to be fixed. You could save yourself a whole lot of time if you stuck to the forums of zones you're actually familiar with. Quote
Lone Outlaw Posted July 20, 2012 Report Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) Bottom line is you don't have mods warn people for the way the game is. You either fix it through settings or bot, and move on. If mods are going to give warnings then it falls under telling people how to play the game, because someone rages that it's not fair, and it's lame. I never disagreed with fixing gameplay to make it balanced. I disagreed with telling people how to play because someone is too lazy to fix the game play, or someone feels entitled to having the game played their way. Edited July 20, 2012 by Lone Outlaw Quote
Cheese Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 because hes too dumb to understand the situation and never sets foot in the zone this idiot probably is avast Quote
Lone Outlaw Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Well subgame was first, bot is just the word i use to summarize both bot and module. Because a bot is pretty much made the same way a module is, Someone programs code. And changing settings is different than programming code. Hence bot and settings. Unix Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 Problem is that the developer needs to hear about it. Only one developer. Even then sometimes it takes months for something to happen when it should be obviously taken care of. Quote
cxc Posted July 21, 2012 Author Report Posted July 21, 2012 is it allowed or abuse? if allowed I will buy transwarp key for my thor ship and join in the lameness. But i dont want to plunk down the money for trans warp then get warned/banned for abusing. Quote
Jareth Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 It is allowed. It is how the item was designed. The code for tw is here:https://bitbucket.org/drbrain/hyperspace_modules/src/4b9f0c9167e3/hs_warp/hs_tw2.c It would be nice if you wouldn't join in, because it ruins the zone for everyone else. Quote
cxc Posted July 21, 2012 Author Report Posted July 21, 2012 Just because the game design allows it does not mean its legal, ex swearing, team killing, flag trading, interfering. are all allowed in by game design, but are not legal. Looking for a smod to answer. Quote

spidernl Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 Thorring isn't all that bad until multiple people do it. You call that teamwork. With field delay, the same now applies to fields, and has always applied to things like lancs (get a huge number of those and your team is indestructable), etc. The only 'fix' is reducing the number of thors buyable and useable at one time. However, people will always find something new that'll be considered 'lame' sooner or later. Quote
