The pilot is the first step in creating the comedy series entitled Sandwiche City ™ . Donations on Kickstarter will go towards animating the pilot. Rewards for donating include DVDs, t-shirts, posters, production credit, and even lunch with the creator of the pilot, Sean Rochlen. “The Invasion of Crapola” is collecting donations now. In the pilot, the fictional locale of Sandwiche City is invaded by an army of giant crayons, and chaos ensues. Merve Johnson, the star of the pilot, decided that he has to “do something about it,” and he dons a cape and a tight-fitting spandex suit and calls himself Powerdad, because is the greatest dad in the world. Unfortunately, Powerdad doesn’t have any real powers, and Merve causes more problems than he solves. Merve’s son, Evan Johnson, is a sixth grader at BLT Middle School, and his circle of friends include Drake Coldheart and Lonny Pheramone. Together, they try to lift the city-wide ban on arts and crafts, and stop the crayon invasion. Another principle character, Archduke, is the reigning leader of the crayons under the banner of Crapola, and is Powerdad’s arch-nemesis. Other characters in the pilot include Mayor Coldcut, an attractive female politician who can’t resist Merve’s charm, and Mrs. Paintchip, an art teacher bent on revenge. Sandwiche City will contain more episodes with themes centered around inanimate objects as characters, Merve’s relationship with his son, humorous alcohol related incidents, political corruption, and other diverse topics. Funding is needed for the pilot so that Sandwiche City can be developed as a series. The pilot will be made by Toonbots, an animation studio located in Detroit, Michigan, and funding for the pilot will support Michigan jobs. Please donate at Kickstarter.com.
