»SD>Big Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 (edited) What are you rocking these days? pull out your e-penis! I built mine last march but have updates parts since.. it's become a bit of a hobby: CPU: Core i7 2600K overclocked to 4.4 GhzMOBO: Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3Memory: 16GB (4x4GB) G.Skill 1600MhzGPU: Sapphire 6950 (bios unlocked to a 6970) 2GB GDDR5 at slightly overclocked speeds but not muchCase: Corsair 600TPSU: 700W modular something i dont remember, corsair or antecCPU Cooling: Corsair H100Sound Card: Asus Xonar DXSSD: RAID0 2 x Crucial M4 128GB Sata IIIHDD: RAID0 2 x Western Digital Black Caviar 1TB Sata III Western Digital 2TB Sata IIMonitor: BenQ XL2410T 23.6" LED 120hzMouse: Logitech G500Keyboard: Logitech G510Headset: Logitech G930Speakers: Bose Companion 20 I'm well aware of the dangers of having RAID0 but all my important files are cloud and the other stuff (downloads, music, games) are backed up to the 2TB drive on the regular. I also use some program, forget the name, that creates a RAM Cache for my 1TB drives. I use 8GB of my 16GB for that ram cache and the rest as system memory. I usually hover around 60%-70% RAM usage. Unused ram is wasted ram! Edited March 17, 2012 by SD>Big Quote
»Lynx Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 i7, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD, 2TB HDD, thermaltake keyboard / mouse and a 1GB graphics card. 2x monitors... I don't really play games, last thing I played was Skyrim and it was more than capable enough for highest quality settings etc I also have a laptop, iPad and other crap I don't need. ;-P Quote

»Xog Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 just upgraded CPU, mobo and ram to: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115070 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233186http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128538 should be arriving today. »Xog Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 I'm a little confused. You said you have:Memory: 16GB (4x8GB) G.Skill 1600Mhz Does your mobo limit you to 16GB of RAM? cuz 4x8 is not 16.. lol Quote
Dr Brain Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 I think you'll get more mileage out of a SSD than a processor upgrade. Should look into those next time you're looking for a speed boost. Especially now that you've got a fast SATA motherboard. Quote
»Lynx Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 ^^ Parent is right. If you're going to get an SSD, pay the extra few bucks for a decent one. I bought a Crucial SSD (I forget the exact make/model) and found that the random read/writes weren't even in the same ball park as the Intel 510 series. Quote
Dr Brain Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 Reliability is another SSD concern, so make sure your backup system is bulletproof, as you will get no warning before a failure occurs. I recommend CrashPlan. Despite this concern, SSDs are very much worth it. Quote

»Xog Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 (edited) Ah, a faster hard drive isn't something I really need at the moment. I needed a faster processor (2.66Ghz stock, 3.2 OC) and RAM (4GB of 800 Mhz isn't cutting it LOL) here's what my PC is barely capable of:http://www.twitch.tv...ing/b/310560377 The highest resolution my PC can handle streaming in is 720x480 and still be smooth. Even then, my CPU cores go all the way up to around 90% sometimes maxxing out and causing stutters in high-action scenes. Now though, I'll finally be able to go 1080p and quite possibly i'll also be able to actually stream PC games instead of xbox! even on the lowest resolution games are unplayable as it completely chops up my pc. and ugh, my hardware didn't come yet. I ordered on thursday from newegg with Next Day Shipping and it won't be here until tomorrow (monday) Some day down the road though I do plan on taking advantage of my mSATA capabilities. It's why I picked this mobo. SSD prices should be falling over the next several months, as well as HDD. Edited March 19, 2012 by Xog Quote

Now you say it is for gaming? I hope there are other, more serious needs otherwise you're an ass Quote
»Xog Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 I also render videos for money so technically its for work too. Quote
