Avast Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 (edited) It's exactly like continuum, just in java. With no added features, only a few different graphics. Which is possible in continuum anyway. So why are you renaming it. Aphelion isn't even a nice name. Just call it Continuum or Subspace. And load it on a browser, to bring people to the game. Avast Posted January 7, 2012 Author Report Posted January 7, 2012 I know it would be open source, since hes coding it from scratch. It's irrelevent what possibilities are available. It's exactly like continuum. And should not be renamed. Things like front End can already be modified by downloading Skins, on original Continuum. Graphics in game can be changed also. So there is not many differences. The only difference is that rocks respond to Black Holes, one small change in game mechanics does not make it a new game. All the screenshots I am seeing of Aphelion, are screenshots resembling Continuum. There are at least 100 different gameplay mechanics I can think of, and Security changes. If the game doesn't even have these then its not even 1% different from Subspace/Continuum.

spidernl Posted January 8, 2012 Report Posted January 8, 2012 I'm impressed, Avast. I hadn't thought your posts could become any more stupid than they were before, but you have succeeded.
Sketter Posted January 8, 2012 Report Posted January 8, 2012 For someone who has insight about the development of this project - It will not carry the name Continuum, or Subspace. The goal (which has never been amended) is to take the game away from it's static state.
Avast Posted January 9, 2012 Author Report Posted January 9, 2012 (edited) Even if the game is no longer static, it's still Continuum/Subspace. I dont care if the code is 100% new. The only client for example that was a true remake of subspace, was Cosmic RIft by Jeff Petersen. Even though people wanted to pull away from subspace completely, Jeff decided to make a new client based on the same concepts. This is a truely unique different game from Subspace/Continuum. It was also a failure. You are idiots if you think your new client is as different from subspace as Cosmic Rift is. And even more stupid for not using the same name. Once again pride ruins any chance you have at a successful game/zone/community. Edited January 9, 2012 by Avast
Samapico Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Continuum used a different name than Subspace... did it make it a failure?
Avast Posted January 9, 2012 Author Report Posted January 9, 2012 Coincidentally that was the first time the population dropped.
spidernl Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 (edited) Scratch that. dc;ia. Edited January 9, 2012 by spidernl

Avast Posted January 9, 2012 Author Report Posted January 9, 2012 (edited) It doesn't matter if it's a new client. With more options available, it's still subspace/continuum. Only when its like Cosmic Rift, would it be something else entirely. Or Altitude. The Menu over emphasizes animations, and it makes it unprofessional. Keep it simple, and add more colors, than just metal, with lame standard sounds, which i can find on the internet since 1996. Edited January 9, 2012 by Avast

The Menu over emphasizes animations, and it makes it unprofessional. Samapico Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Anything related to the name of this client, or your philosophy on software name in general, should be in that other topic I just made.
»Lynx Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 1/3 of this thread is Avast making a retarded point. 2/3 of this thread are people disagreeing with Avast (apart from the parent post), or not caring.
Avast Posted January 10, 2012 Author Report Posted January 10, 2012 (edited) Legality is a dumb reason. It's not pay to play. And its 100% your own code. You didn't rip off his work. So he has no legal claims. A name is a name. He could never make it stick, nor waste his dumb time wanting to. At most he would just buy the client from you, or enter a partnership. I want to see him get another country to do something about you. Or even more locate you. Its especially easy to do anything you want if your not in the UK or USA. And know how to be anonymous online. Especially since Virgin died, is there a company with a claim to this game, and if so why isn't it an official claim, like it was when Virgin ran it. "Its been looked into is not a good answer, just vague bs." You actually didn't look into anything. Edited January 10, 2012 by Avast
Samapico Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Since everyone who isn't banned disagrees with everything in this topic, I'll just close it to make sure it dies peacefully...
