Resol I hate to see you so disheartened, I'm sure you've put a lot of work in and it'd be a shame to see it wasted like this. Was it not you that made the ships alternate from old to new? That was pure genius anyway, and the new smaller pub map was well needed. If you ask me even in the old days, the large pub map occassionally felt to large, especially as a sniper trying to trek across the map. I haven't been able to play as much as I might've liked to mainly do to work commitments, and now I really regret it.

 

I reckon if we get a facebook group and get some times up for playing this zone can resurrect itself, and when it does I hope I still see you about resol

People don't recognize when you are doing things right, only when you f-up. That is just how things are in the world in general. So good work will mostly go unmentioned, leaving the only way to gauge your success how fervent the commentary becomes when you make a perceived mistake. I have found the "where is yours?" mentality trumps pretty much most petty complaints. One must persevere through critical negativity to arrive at the destination with results that are better for it. Consumers are critical of products without thought to what it takes to make them exist. Human nature, that. You weed out the complaining that is just there to be negative from the truly thoughtful input and move forward.

 

Too bad about the zone. But you shouldn't have given it up because of some Negative Nancey's didn't like what you were doing. Should have seen the spam hate when the new graphics were introduced. F-em. These days a zone that doesn't evolve some will stagnate and die.

I agree with ZiGNoTZaG, you'll get a lot of shit from all sorts of people when managing a zone, even from former members who no longer contribute anything; it's not exactly fun. But you always have to remember that there are people who enjoy it and enjoy your contributions, they just won't always tell you. Sucks to see MG disappear once again.

The tricky part is keeping people there after the initial "MG is back" boom. It's tough.

 

What exactly were they "harassing" you about? I don't understand how that makes a zone go under. I understand the reasoning that it was just dead, but I honestly can't believe you closed the zone due to player harassment, especially in a dead zone.

 

And seriously, screw them.

 

Polix, I have all the original files somewhere on my external HD. I'll have to search around for the .zip, but Kirk sent me them a few months ago and I added whatever was missing from my previous files. I'm not sure what Resol has added since he tried to start it up again, though. Just let me know, and if you need any help feel free to ask. I'm sure I could help in a limited role.

looks like mgctf has went in a few directions since i was there last. I stop in every so often to see whats new/changed and see if i recognize anyone. last few times its been no one. if i can help any way shoot me a msg on here, if i remember to check

I just don't understand the purpose of not handing on the files. Just doesn't make sense to me. At all.
