Why can't you? Top right of the page, there's a dropdown menu with your name, go to 'My settings', on the left there's a 'e-mail and password' tab. You should be able to change it from there.

Edit: I just realized this is in the SSC forum... are you talking about in-game nickname, or your forum account?

And I don't think you can change the e-mail of a Subspace account... this prevents some nametrading, AFAIK. The only thing you'd need your e-mail for is to reset the password, anyway.

AFAIK you cannot change the e-mail that your name is linked to.

In reality it does not matter anyway as it is not used for anything. Should you lose a password there are other methods of recovery available.

I've had a terrible time getting names I used to have back. No matter what information I provide, "Sorry there is nothing linking your current name with the name you are trying to obtain."

Its a joke of a system. In all honesty, your better off just creating a new name if you for some reason forget and lose the password of a name you were using.

Typically if we deny someone, it is truly their own fault for not filling in proper information. I would say probably only 1/50 tickets get denied, and maybe 1/20 the person never replies to our questions. Most of the time we are able to find connecting info, and the name is retrieved.

We have retrieved people's names who haven't logged in for more than 7 or 8 year before. But again hat is because they properly filled out all the registration info.

There is a lot of other data to fill in, and a lot of computer data also pulled upon registration we can look at / match. A lot of the time people just refuse to do the simple things we ask to help them, so they get denied.

So people can guess passwords to names, and refill the registration info, and they will be be the new owner after they stole the name? My name got reset for no reason, and then some loser took it. Edited by Avast

I had the same problem cheese had with the name cheese, but with my name Tycho Celchu.. also Talon Claw is my squad verified by 100 DSB'ers and even DSB staff who hates me can tell you I owned, and operated that squad. And you never returned it to me.

Also If no one uses a name after 3 years. I think it's safe to say you can reset the damn thing. IF they ever come back to subspace, chances are they wont even remember they had that name. They won't even care if they lose it, because they will accept that they have been gone from the game 3 years. Edited by Avast

and noone has ever bought a new computer or printer in 10 years?

Actually one of those 3 tickets, the person had the same full name as their computer's owner, and had filled in their real name on their new name on the registration. It isn't just computer hardware that it pulls.

On top of that, there is 3 zone's alias dbs we trust that are rather old and we regularly use that to find matching login data.

not really, i used the name Cheese for years, then the biller reset it, some idiot logged in on it once 6 years ago, and ive never gotten it back

Quite a bit more than 6 yrs ago he created it, and played on it for quite a few years too.

I will say this, I play detective more than I really should comparing multiple names, mids, ips etc. to match names. Sometimes I'll go through a list of someone's aliases just to find a matching bit of data on it that matches their name, or another name that then has data that matches their name. I'll trace IPs, dig through alias dbs, check multiple different spellings (this is a case many times... one in particular, I ended up having to show the guy info I was not suppose to just to prove to him the name spelt wrong was actually his), etc.

The old ops / system. If login info, and registration didn't match, you're done.

Our system is to try and match and dig for anything we can. But as with the old system, we have been burned by trusting word of mouth, and so we learned quickly not to and wrote that in our rules.

SO my question is to you. For Tycho Celchu. How many years has that name been inactive? like 8 years? The guy doesn't login after stealing my name for 8 years and you let him keep the name? He probably doesn't even know enough about starwars to know who tycho celchu is anyway. Is this Tycho Celchu person on any other nicks? I understand if they are playing everyday under another name. Sure then they are active. But not only is the name Tycho celchu inactive 10 years, the actual player probably has subspace uninstalled for 10 years, and your letting the douche keep the name. Your system is retarded. Its the same with squad names.

Talon Claw is clearly my squad. I can give you the e-mails of 40 people right now who will all answer yes. But for some reason that's not good enough proof. You need someone whose actually in the squad. The squad has been inactive 10 years, and you gave it to some retarded noob that I recruited for 1 week who never showed to a single league game. sigh. You fail.
