shazbot Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 Metal Gear is currently testing out the different options for multiple arenas and we have ran into some problems. Well, only one but it's big. You see if we set arena max to 40 and we have 45 people, then 5 people are forced to be tortured by a boring 3v2 flag game. I'm wondering if there is a way to like...let the arena go to maybe 50 people, then when 1 more comes in a new arena is opened and a bot ads for new arena? Im open to suggestion so feel free to post.
Evil Jin Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 why dont you or one of your staff members spawn a bot at 45 people?
»SOS Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 Well, it is possible to make a plugin that ads smaller public arenas, yes.So tell your bot slave to do it, the zone does have a bot slave, yes?
Paine Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 nad once again the people spat it back in his face :furious:
Yupa Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 nad once again the people spat it back in his face :furious: hrmmm?
ExplodyThingy Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 uh, im a such a tool. Im basically gunna ripoff dynamic.dll arent i?
shazbot Posted August 21, 2003 Author Report Posted August 21, 2003 We have 3 bot slaves., catid, splody, and devvy
Bueshtak Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 Posted: Thu Aug 21, 2003 7:35 amPost subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- nad once again the people spat it back in his face Meaning, the players -*BAD WORD*-ed and moaned and screamed till we got rid of it. Same as if we try to change anything...dumb players..
Hoch Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 I may not know much about bots, but like SOS said just have the bot spawn another pub when it reaches the limit you set. At least in DSB, our master bot automatically spawns a new arena, with a bot, when the pub size has been met. Would be a -*BAD WORD*- of a lot easier doing that then to have a mod there doing it everytime it was needed. Though, your bot access is probably easier, priit controls ours -Hoch
PoLiX Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 I've notice in TW, that the arenas don't have to be full before people pour into another... Theres probably some trick to it...
PoLiX Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 I'd Suggest This... Put bots in the 2nd arena and then people can just hop back and forth between arenas. Advertise the 2nd arena for a while, and then eventually change should happen.
»SOS Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 Yes, there is some... erm what was it... "DesiredPlayers" limit that says when people are to be put into another one. But it is not hard at all to make a bot that just goes into any new arenas that pop up and advertises them.
Paxil Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 If I'm mistaken, doesn't T3G have more than 40 players in an arena at once?
Evil Jin Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 hocky zone does that too. theres like 4 arenas if the 1st pub has like 18 people it puts you in another
fresca Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 We had a similar problem in CS back when we were on SSC and getting very big.. I believe all we did was just make all staff go into the 2nd arena so it would appeal more to the players=/ Anyways, I don't quite know how to solve this problem:( I think ASSS might be able to fix your problem, I don't use ASSS because I run Windows and also it's got some weird commands that I don't like, but last I heard, it had some sorta feature for Public Arenas or something or another..
ExplodyThingy Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 There is some little trick ive seen in use. Somehow players are defaulted to Public 1 before public 0 is complete full. Not sure how tho. Maybe haveing the ini max people lower than in the cfg max people? cuz the ini would probably control default entries.
Evil Jin Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 its in the cfg. its in kisc it says min amount of people before it starts putting them in a diff public. if set to zero it will use the max
Guest Zhou Yu Posted August 30, 2003 Report Posted August 30, 2003 Theres probably something wrong with this, but couldn't you just allow ten people over the max for the last arena and once a tenth person over the max enters you warp all ten to a new pub for a 5v5 until more people show up?
madhaha Posted August 30, 2003 Report Posted August 30, 2003 How do you warp people to other arenas? Oh wait, you can't. Used to be able to with the *say command but that was removed (probably because of abuse).
